Here's a brief history about myself. I think I've been here long enough that I can be openly honest with you guys.

I've been on this board since early November .... or something like that. I've been into cars since 1996 (I was 15 back then) and the whole reason why I got into cars was after looking at a metallic blue 180SX with a Nismo body kit on one of those Japanese car magazines. Plus there was some guy who drove an S13 Onevia at my high school with a gold paint job and a body kit. I thought that car was the shit. Since then, I've become a car geek and a walking aftermarket parts catalog. It was funny when I could identify a car type (model, trim, car name), body kit, brand of exhaust, and style of wheels from a block away. So it was obviously I've been hittin' the books. Plus I've been following the "scene" for so #### long I've seen trends, California teams, new tuning techniques, parts, and stuff come and go.

Back in MY day, there was only ONE 10 sec. CRX.

Anyway, here's the deal. I currently drive an automatic 92 Integra RS since down the line in high school I got sucked into the Honda scene. Why an auto? Well, blame my parents. Anyway, I've been out of work and stuff, so I haven't gotten around to getting another car for a very long time. I don't "own" a 240SX at all. I still have this hoopty Integra. So I sorta felt weird about visiting this board and asking questions. I love the 240SX since day one when I was a car newbie. I dunno, since I don't own one, I feel sorta outta place even though I can answer a few questions here and there for board members from time to time about their cars and parts.

Anyway, since I'm a Honda owner, I don't have a 240SX and I have no clue when I would get one, does this make me seem like a poser or something? This was something I asked myself after one guy sorta got a bit of heat for asking a question and one guy asked why he'd ask the question if he didn't have the car yet. I dunno, it's just one of those things I've been thinking about. Do I belong here? Or am I just some wannabe?

*sigh*

I just sorta feel silly. =)

Neat!

Sorry about the random thought. I was just sorta having a bad day today after Wells Fargo told me they have their position filled after dicking me around for 3 weeks. So I found myself asking, "Great, when in the blue #### am I ever going to get that 240SX?"

Welcome! Also, if you need any help with your Integ, let me know because I owned a 91 GS for two years before getting my s14 in May 01. Also, and don't interpret this as me telling you to leave, but http://www.g2ic.com has a lot of helpful G2 Integra Info. I used to be a member there

While I don't like FWD cars that much, my gramma had an Integra and it was pretty nice. As for belonging here, ask yourself this:

Do you contribute to discussions and/or learn from others' posts?

I think you'll find the answer is yes, and you don't seem to be an ####### or anything, so I wholeheartedly welcome you.

I sometimes wonder the same thing. I can only answer some engine questions. I haven't a clue how the LSD display or whatever works, 'cause I have a truck. The only thing I have in common with the 240 is engine and tranny for 89-90. I felt out of place when I first joined this forum, but I use it as an opportunity to learn, and to give advice on what I can. Plus, the only way I can make my truck faster is by borrowing 240sx parts.

I'd say this forum is great because of the diversity it allows; to a point anyway. You're welcome no matter what. I don't give a rat's ass if you never get a 240, although you would have more to talk about.

I drove a minivan all through high school.... it wasn't untill the 70 mile commute in a 3-speed 4-cylinder minivan ceased to make sense that I bought my initial 240sx, a '92 S13...
then I moved on to the S14...

Oh yeah, minivans are not only pimp (with 10" subwoofers lining the back) but they also give you a REASON to learn how to drive smoothly (try keeping up with a Saab 900Turbo and an Audi 4000S Quattro in a POS van. i dunno HOW i managed that).
Then there was the time my friend in his SW2 raced another friend in a Vigor on the highway and I had to draft off of both cars so I wouldn't get lost.....

Drifting Ricer: hard to believe a minivan driver is faster eh??? (j/k)

Bro don't even worry about it what's meant to be is meant to be you'll get a job and buy a 240 (s13 if you're lucky hehe) and all will be well within your universe. In the meantime grin and bear it and whip that integra proudly.

Yea, I try to read up as much as I can on other cars. If I'm gonna run with 'em, I might as well know what my competition is and what can be done to them. I hate surprises popping up. ####, I wished I worked for a shop. I can't do installs worth a ####, but I'm at least a walking parts catalog. =/

By the way, welcome to the board. I merely made my post to see if anyone "sometimes" felt the same way I did or something of that sort. Man, I love this board even if I do end up getting another Honda or a Scooby for some "odd" reason. ;_;

To answer Drifting Ricer, spoiler on Initial D....

Yea, it's a real engine, not some made-up engine swap like in ...I dunno, The Fast n' The Furious. It's a TRD circuit racing engine out of the crate that comes alive at 10,000RPM, thus Takumi needing a new tachometer since the stock AE86 tachometer only goes up so high. Bunta knew how to push that car since he'd know what 10k RPM sounded like and Takumi didn't. Since there's enough power in that car to push the driver against the driver's side door, he needed a racing seat. Bunta gets Takumi a pretty Bride racing seat. I don't blame him either. Swaying around is ass and the best thing to do is get a racing seat to eliminate the stress on the driver's body from all that rigorous moving. Ouch...cramps. Trust me, even my little automatic teggy pushes enough G's during wide curves to cause me to struggle when I need to pull myself up to the steering wheel.

I don't own a 240 right now either. "right now" is the key word. I still mourn for my S13, but I've got hopes...

Anyway... I don't see why should you feel like you don't belong. Well... I know how you feel... or at least a little bit, but... you still shouldn't shut out on us 100%. I used to be here non-stop when I still had my last 240. Then when I sold it, I felt somewhat dead, believe it or not. I was completely consumed by the car and just was trying to find out everything I could about it. I was on here non-stop . I don't think I post nearly as much anymore, I just don't feel like I really belong... But I'm still around.

And you should stay, you have knowledge to share and to pick up.

Well, my dream project was a Sil-Eighty. It was Initial D that did it for me, but I was a 180SX fan since the beginning. However, S14's are starting to grow on me and well, they're newer so my mom doesn't have to bitch at me about the car being old or anything.

Ah well, I've got a very long time to decide. Anyone in the Bay Area know if there are any job openings? LOL

What Bunta would say: "Just stay out of the gutter Takumi.... you'll soon learn it's costing me so much on tires >_<"

Actually, Initial D initially made me look for an FC. Long story short I ended up with an S13 because of the FR format.

AceInHole... i had an FC, before my 240... D'oh, blew the engine, haha... seems FC's have trash engines that need to be replaced every 90k, (no one can deny this! try me) I just got my s-14 this week... sooo much better... and really it drifts sooo much easier, I haven't done jack to it yet... anyways, back to the topic... Takumi (if that really is your name, ha) forget a sileighty, make a onevia! yeah boy, you get the better rear end, and retractable lights... but, SLIVIA is still better than either... it just looks better.

(also note, Drifting Ricer, cartoons can't be Idols not knocking the show, have all the DVDs)
