Well, you've been asking for it and here it is!

Nearly 4 months in the making. My most challenging music video to date.

A Christmas present for all of you who were at the first D1 USA, and those who ~wish~ they had been there.

Here is my D1 GRAND PRIX USA Music Video.

--Music Video Production Notes:

-This was by far the most difficult and time consuming video I've ever made. I even had to upgrade the hardware and operating system on my computer just to start on it.

-I didn't want to just make a half-ass video with a bunch of nice shots and Euro-techno BGM. I wanted to capture the feel of what it was like to actually be there on that day.

-In general, the video progresses chronologically through the day of the event.

-I tried to include a shot of every car that participated in the event, as well as at least one shot from every match.

-With the matches/battles, I almost always chose a shot from the ~deciding~ run. The only exception is if we didn't get a decent shot of the deciding run. Sometimes the barrier or a nearby audience member got in the way.

-The part where the judges are clapping, is when they were clapping along with the audience chanting "One more time!" after the match between Imamura and Ernie Fixmer.

-I wanted to include more of the exciting match between Ernie and Imamura, but the footage we had just didn't work well.

-For those who don't know, the wacky obnoxious guy in the orange shirt is none other than Eiji "Tarzan" Yamada.

-This is the first video I've made that I'll be able to put on DVD (rather than just VCD).

I felt your last video before this one was acually better. The music on this one really pissed me off and annoyed the hell outta me. I much perfered your pervious choice of music the Shady mushrooms. The last video you could acually hear the cars. (The most important part.) The music didn't go with the video at all?

Do you think it's possible to release one WITHOUT that music or atleast with a more fitting track? Such as another track from Shady mushrooms? Maybe Waves of sound? I was really looking foward to your new video but the music completly ruined it. I loved your old video and watch it a zillion times.

Man I cant thank you enough for taking the time to make that video!!! Seeing as how I never get a chance to go to those events and stuff cuz I live way the hell in Saskatoon Saskatchewan Canada it was most appreciated! You guys sure have it good and any one who can go to one of those events and doesnt is an idiot! Awesome video!! Do you still have your other video? Wow, Muchas Gracias to all of you for the nice comments on the video! I'm very happy to hear you liked it, and that no one (so far) has had problems downloading or watching it.

Anyways, I really appreciate all feedback on the video, both positive and negative.

NikeKids: Sorry to disappoint you w/ the choice of music. I wanted to go w/ an American band, and GnR is from L.A. too. I couldn't turn up the sound of the cars more without it starting to sound muddy.

I don't plan to re-edit the video to make it work with another song, but you could always just turn the sound all the way down so you don't have to listen to it.

Dousan: Hey man, I wanted to give you special thanks because you guys really made Kyoko and I feel welcome when we came down there. Much appreciated.

That video rocked. Great music choice. I also loved your D1GP video from Japan. The music was awesome in that one as well. I liked the beginning of the first one how those japanese people you were with were commenting on the Lambo and how it was awesome and expensive. That just stuck out in my mind. I have to get my ass to Japan to make my own experiences out there. Keep up the good work.

wanganwonder: Yeah, I'm in Seattle and my autocross club held a gymkhana event back in June. It was a big fun tricky course, taking about 2 minutes from start to finish.

NismoGear5: We had three digital cameras out there, nothing special. Mine is a three year old base model Canon mini-DV, Nikos and Casey have Sonys recording DV onto Hi8.
