SR Getting low oil pressure. Help

Ok my swap is complete with upgrades and all but the shop thats doing it called me last night saying I was getting really low oil pressure and if I drive it like this it will probably kill a rod bearing. Well I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions before I fork out 250 bucks to phase 2 on a new oil pump?!?

Tell them to take off the oil pan and bang it out so the pump actually can suck oil.

BTW, if they drove it around like that for more than about 30 seconds, the bearing(s) is probably already toast. But maybe you'll get lucky. When you go to pick it up, make SURE you start it up and let it idle for at least 5-10 minutes, and then rev it a few times. Also, hold the throttle at about 3000 rpm...a rod knock will usually resonated about there.

no it has nt been diven. They did not even crank it to discover the low oil pressure they just turned it over. The engine is fine and we did not cause any damage to it but I was just saying what are my options of eleviating this problem with out purchasing a new oil pump and main seal?

1. Take off pan
2. Bang out dent
3. Squeeze out gasket maker
4. Install pan
5. Crank engine

It takes a bit to get the pressure up on a motor that's been sitting for a while. Generally, SR oil pumps are sturdy...it's the fact that the pickup is SO CLOSE to the pan, that they can't suck oil and that causes starvation.

Search more about this. You'll find LOTS of info on the topic.
