Opinions please...

So im new to this Forum but I come here a lot for the tech articles.

Any ways... I fried my piston rings on my KA in my S14 and was planning on a rebuild. But a friend of mine offered an RB20DET for $400. I dont believe he has the transmission though. Would this be worth the time and effort? I searched google and on here but my company blocks forum pages. Luckily they haven't blocked Zilvia yet.

Rb20 is a decent motor. The stock turbo is no good however. What all would it come with.

Question for you is what is this car going to be used for? It really comes down to what you want to do with it. Parts for the rb aren't cheap or easily accessible.

I personally would rather rebuild the ka and go turbo. Parts are cheap and readily accessible for the ka and the motors themselves are everywhere.

It comes with all sensors, turbo from a RB25, and all the injectors and such. It doesn't have the intercooler or transmission. And he said it needs a new timing belt.

The car has been my daily play car. It gets me to and from work and any time I can afford to I slide it.

At this point it's going to be personal preference. Do you really care about having a "cool" JDM-tyte yo motor?

Also does it come with the crossmember, motor mounts, harness, etc? I'm not sure what else is needed for a swap (i.e. fabrication).

I just want something reliable.

And no. I would have to buy/fabricate.
