S14 240sx: Rubbing sound while turning?
I have never heard anything like this before with any 240sx. 1995 S14 with 300,000 miles. It is probably mileage related. I have not looked under the car yet- I expect someone to already have knowledge from experience on the forum, so here is the symptom:
When the car is turned left or right, whether moving or still, there is a rubberized squeaking sound, as if the steering shaft were encased in rough dry rubber. Imagine a vice grip coated in thick rubber grasping the steering shaft, and try to turn the steering wheel. I do not quite know how else to describe the sound. the oddest thing is that it will sometimes NOT make the noise, usually only after driving for a while it begins. My diagnosis will begin with inspection of the front end components, I would like some ideas of what to look for from the experienced members of the forum before I start, please? |

my guess is that its either low powersteering or your ball joints are in need of grease. Check your PS fluid level and try to grease yo nipples and see if that works
