AWD se-r?

My friend says he is going to do an AWD conversion for his 1996 se-r. Is this possible or does it need to be a custom job?

Stock SER will probably beat a stock 240 in drag and auto-x. Given equal skilled drivers.

AWD is better attempted with a Stanza chassis.

You think a stock se-r could beat a 240 in both? They only have like 125 hp and they are FWD. I told him to go to the last autocrossing but he made some bullshit excuse. If he doesnt go to the next one then hes chicken shit.

heh... i've driven a B13 SER and B15 SE and it's a tossup. I was faster in the 15 but the 13 felt more fun..... i'm not so sure the B13 is THAT much faster than a stock 240, if at all. Just from limited experiences I'd say it'd be a toss up.

The b13 is way faster than a b15 1/4 times for a b13 stock are as low as 15.1 to 15.7 b15's stock are 16.3 (not to sure could be higher in this) to 16.7. B14's go from 15.9- 16.3 I ran a 16.1 when I swapped mine to stick auto was a 16.7. And yes a stock b13 will beat a 240 seen it done many many times. Lighter, rev happy and just better at it. Also seen them beat stock s14's esp since those are heavier.

And I haven't heard of anyone doing a awd setup on a se-r yet. I frequent the sr20forums. Has not been done yet at least not to my knowwledge.

How is there torque curve? I wouldn't think they could launch off the line very well.

Stock for stock the SE-R in any of its forms is a pretty good car. They all can be low 15 secs cars with a good driver and 14's is easy with just a few mods. The 240 is clearly a better car to mod extensively. Autocrossing is purely based on driver between the two. I own a NA 190whp Sentra SE and I walk away from mild turbo cars on a roadcourse all the time. I even chase down Z06's and SS's and stuff like that. Light weight helps a lot. In the end I am sure with the S13 that I am building up that it will destroy my Sentra in no time once I do it right. But don't expect to half a$$ a S13 and walk me down in my Sentra. It's all about who did what right and who knows how to drive. Back on topic. AWD'ing is so often talked about by dreamers and magazine junkies that its not ussually worth even commenting. The B13 is the best sentra to try this on. The b14 is going to require major cutting and a entirely new rear suspension. At least the B13 shares a lot of its suspension with a GTIR AWD SR20DET.

The B13 chassis came in AWD over in Japan. it was the Sunny GTS ATTESA

And there are alot of Pulsar GTi-R AWD's that can be hacked up to fit, but I seriously doubt its a simple matter of "conversion" and alot of custom work would have to be done.

As for SE-Rs being faster than 240s, I drove my friend's stock SpecV at an autocross and got a faster time than my SOHC 240. It definitely felt like it had 50 more hp, and the LSD helped it pull out of the corners well for a FWD car.

I was comparing stock B13 to stock S13 in my posts above, for anyone wondering..

And for the AWD thing... nothing is too hard if you have a welder
