180SX Front Clip

So if I found a front clip in good shape with the SR in it how possible would it be to do a section and make it and my 240SX match up and make my current 240 a right hand drive. Does anyone know anybody who has done this or anything like it? Im just looking for something to turn some heads and I think that would do it. I have built my share of minitrucks and hot rods but this is my first try at a import and was just wondering where to find a clip and if it was possible.

It's not going to be structurally sound. There are other ways to do this conversion without cutting off your front end but my question to you is, what is the point? Turn a few heads, sure. What about turning the heads of cops that are going to pull you over for doing something illegal like that. What about drive-thru service? Just seems like a big pain in the ass for nothing. Good luck though.

Yeah, I would reccommend against that myself. You have to remove the firewall and basically do the swap. It's just a lot of hastle to do something just for others to look at you.

Also be aware that if you are going to do this that most clips coming into the US from Japan do not have body work. You will have to buy that seperately or use the USDM body panels.

basically it would involve removing every piece of the dash, dash core/supports, dash wiring, fuse boxes and other misc electronics, AC system/heater cores, gauges, steering column, pedal assemblies, master cylinders for clutch/brakes, the engine, all engine/tranny harnesses, cut out the firewall, remove steering rack/lines..... and then re-do all of that crap (and hope to god you're not missing anything) just to sit on the other side of the car and get some looks? no thanks but you're more than welcome to do it if you value getting looked at that much

SR motor set/clip $2500+, FMIC kit $700+, Downpipe $100+, 3" exhaust $500+, Misc install parts $100+, Shop labor for install $1000+ and you still only make 220rwhp for $5000
so what's so CHEAP about the SR swap again?

hi, it's not illegal. you can do w/e as long as it doesn't harm the safety of the driver or any outside person.

according to the National Highway Safety people Right Hand Drive is legal just as long as the safety ratings won't change and match that of USDM spec. That's why some jeeps n stuff do it. They wanna deliver mail, haha.

I actually wanted 2 do the same, but now I'm thinking twice...
why? to inconvience ourselves? I personally don't like the whole JDM bandwagon thing.

oh yea, on install. damning ur firewall to hell and hackin it up isn't required. you can always trace and measure out the holes on the passenger (soon to be driver side) and use grinder or drill to shape em out.

Then of course you'd have to plug up the other side where the previous steering rack holes, etc. were. To do this (if I were going to): would be to use a fiberglass mat, or a mesh mat (you can buy it from Pep Boys, or even a Home Depot type place) and bondo over the holes. And then, cover em up with the carpet and/or paint over em black. Vwalah! Ur done...

besides, any real driver would be able to do a quick 180 and back up to the drive through window
