starter issues

so i am having starter issues bc the previous owner hacked the living crap out of the electrical system.

the starter i have has a male spade coming off the solenoid, a wire with a male end also coming out of the solenoid and a post that comes off the solenoid for constant power from the battery.

my question is, what does each of those listed outputs from the solenoid require?

main post is for the 4ga constant positive battery lead
wire which comes off the solenoid- ???
and spade which comes directly off the solenoid-???

reason being, im gonna have to hook up a start button since most of the wiring from the ignition to the starter isnt there. im trying to get away from having to replace the entire harness.
