vlsd output shaft wont go in!
sup guys, i did the DIY on shimming a vlsd diff....followed it step by step, but im stumbled onto a problem trying to put everything back together, one of the output shaft doesnt wanna go in, i can get it in about 3/4's of the way and it doesnt move anymore, sounds like its hitting metal the more i hit it in. any tips or hints?

Guys what you need to do is when you go to put it back together have both input shafts in while you tighten everything up. Then once you have the carrier together, pop the shafts out and assemble the entire diff.
I had to do this to mine. First time in 8 diffs I had this problem. |

It's either A) hitting the c-clip inside the differential or B) you installed a VLSD into an open differential pumpkin and the longer shaft is hitting the open differential housing.
If option B) you will need to shave down the shaft like so... ![]() From the red line down needs to match the shaft diameter and the black line above it (about 3mm up) needs to be tapered up in the same manner as the original taper of the shaft. Good luck.
