180 type S manual conversion
Hey there fellow zilvia members.
I just have a few questions that i need clearing up regarding a manual conversion for my jdm 180sx type S. Will i need a manual ecu for the conversion? or can i use my current automatic ecu with the manual gearbox? Im currently thinking of buying a sr20det s14 gearbox to fit it to my sr20de engine. Now i have done quite abit of research regarding this matter so im not trying to get spoon fed here but since my car is quite rare.. type s being non turbo and automatic 180sx its really hard to get correct information over the net. Any help will be appreciated Thanks in advance Danny |

as a sidenote, yes.. car will run fine with auto ECU.. in addition to having NO SPEED LIMITER and no, you do not want the sr20det ecu (yet)................. you will someday. |

yeah I've seen a number of Datsuns with NA SR swaps, and they SEARCH for automatic ecus so they won't have the speed limiter.

You can use an auto ECU on a manual KA and SR. The noticeable difference is that the auto ECU lacks a speed limiter, there are others but the differences are so minor you will never notice.
