Type X Front specific questions
Prob gonna catch some crap for asking this but I searched for awhile and no clear answers even pmed a few people....
So from my understanding the general pieces need for the type x front is the bumper, side extensions and brackets. Additional would be everything listed in this photo. ![]() Confirm? The usdm and jdm reinforcement bar are different? In order to use the usdm bar it has to be trimmed? Now in the future I will be adding a front mounted intercooler so I'm assuming the bumper will have to be trimmed but any other other mods to the reinforcement bar if the jdm one is used? I figured if any of the metal in the front dealing with the bumper would have to be hacked up I would just stick with the bare minimum. Any USEFUL input would be great as I'm sure im not the only one getting mixed info from some of the threads. |

most guys i know that have type x front ends just did a crash bar to hold it up with , it cost them around 30 bucks here in florida , they just took the usdm bumper support that was then cut and a shaped bar was welded on the braces of the old BS
i think BLUE STAR FABRICACION here in orlando did one but not sure, either way just call them , cool guys to work with , and cheap |

I recommend you get the side stiffeners, And yes the usdm and Jdm reinforcement are different. Also I have a intercooler with an oil cooler in front of it and I didn't have to trim the bumper at all.

for the bumper to fit like a glove you would need everything. You can modify USDM crash bar to accept the foam support. If not, bumper will sag like elderly titties.

lets get shit straight (again)
first of all, its not type x. enough with that type x shit. its called 96-98 180SX. if you think you're japanese or want to announce that you're a car nerd, say kouki. second, none of the US shit corresponds and crosses over. it just doesnt your US bumper support = garbage your US energy absorber = garbage your US anything = garbage what you need, everything 96-98 180SX. support. stiffeners. everything. cheap out, and you end up with sagging bumper. stop being bitches, order it all or just dont do it. |

I have both side brackets (witch were bent and I hammered the hell out of them) the chuki upper bar and no support and thats it and mine fits awesome and is pretty sturdy. Not crash sturdy but not shaking around or anything. I plan to make a bash bar when i can but its not necessary for fitment.

I've kind of got to agree with him on this one though. You wouldn't take the front end of your mom's Camry apart, then ask which parts need to go back on it, would you?
You've got a schematic right in front of you showing EVERYTHING you need to do what you are trying to do correctly- why dink around with trying to save $100 or something? If the budget is too tight for you to afford all of the necessary components for just the front bumper of the kouki 180 aero setup, then executing the whole car is probably not going to go well. I don't mean to come off as cocky or an asshole here, but it seems pretty self-explanatory. Buy the right parts and do it right. If cost is a major issue for you and you just want the look without the durability or correct fit and finish, there are plenty of fiberglass replica options. |

hahah come on damon,
just tell him what he wants to hear: "nah fuck that y0, all you need is the bumper cover and the lights. ive been driving without the rest of that shit, its all fine.. just use zip ties" seriously. how hard is it to look at a factory blow-out schematic and just order parts. its all there, in black and white. "what, i really have to spend $100 on that retainer" yeah fuck face, it holds your bumper on. dont be fucking stupid, you need it. |

Forget all this fitment talk, spend 100$ on the bumper support so that when you are hard parking at the local wall-mart and some whale in a moo-moo that's too fat to turn her head around far enough to see past her mullet backs into your pretty new front bumper it'll still be repairable. A 5-mph collision with a flimsy bumper cover zip tied on is gonna end in all your JDM credit getting destroyed and your intercooler too. With a bumper support it'll be some paint and buffing, you'll be so happy you and Queen moo-moo will go get some chicken fingers together.

yeah but honestly, the jdm bumper support isnt really a strong support (compared to the USDM ones)... which is why they were changed for US models. the jdm supports are paper thin, and light.
i've contemplating welding some additional steel reinforcements to mine, but ive still got time to deal with that later. |

^^Does that mea you either have a poorly fit bumper that will hold up better in a collision or virgin tight bumper that explodes when touched?
