irc someone has had a problem with them before. try doing a search. seriously, you get what you paid for unless you know the guy or know multiple people who have done swaps with them. There are more than enough stories of shops holding the car for 2+ months, hidden costs, messed up engine parts, shady installs, "loaner cars" etc etc.

Umm, Venus doesn't do motorswaps...

Anyways, I wouldn't buy a motor from them. That's just me. I went by recently, and I must say, I did not like what I saw... a lot of those motors looked to be in terrible shape.

But looks aren't everything.

I've heard enough stories and seen my friends screwed out of motors even though they had made deposits on them... although they are somewhat friendly regarding returns (read: they will actually do them).

Its probably the best place to score a CA18 tho.

My advice to you: Go look at it, compression test, leakdown test and get a guarantee in writing from the person you are buying it from that it will start and work properly.

Otherwise fuck it... they are not bad people, but a lot of their mechandise is suspect.

But FWIW most engine importers have the same problem. Those that do not charge 10 times more.

Good luck

i got two motor sets from them, both work fine. customer service suuuucks, but the products worked fine, and my motor came with a chrome moly flywheel and c's shifter :/ Also, both motors came with bent oilpans, and they sent us brand new ones to replace them.

I hate Venus. I live in Sac, and I would rather buy somewhere else.

I got my engine from them, if your local or close enough to pick it up from them, then id say get it from them cuz you can pick which engine you want. But if they're shipping it to you, thats another story. Thats where you get the *hit and miss* They do a compression test but really thats bout it.

You can't do a compression test without getting at least 150rpms, but you can do a leakdown test. They _may_ ground the starter and just crank it that way, but I think it's more likely they just do a leakdown.

Probably heed his warning but I made 431 off of a block that I thought about sending back just because it looked like it was ugly.......It was most reliable SR20 Ive ever had.......

buy a blacktop S13 regardless the redtop is just too old unless you plan on building the botom endo or freshening it up as I do........

Good luck in you hunt for an SR and please dont buy from the guys in my signature untill I I see a few more motors come out of them.....they sent me and my buddy really nice Redtop's but sent another buddy a really bad one.......I plan on giving them one more chance to redeem themselves...Until then Total-boost is off limits, (they do have really good deals though)

Good luck.....
