White smoke after redline? Help!

Ok so this is my first nissan. And My buddie I got it off of and I were taking it for the test drive to decide wether or not I was going to buy it. Well, we come to a stop and he said do a burn out. I was like eh one time won't hurt. So I revved it up, dropped the clutch and floored it. Well it went PAST 8000 rpms because I was only paying attention to the "sound" of the motor.. And ever since then... When the car sits and idles for a minute or so. You can do a light rev and it will send a little poof of white smoke out the pipe. But the car idles and runs fine. The same as it did. What could it be? A pin hole in the head gasket?

A blown head gasket and a cracked head are very different. I would assume the gasket would blow way before you crack the head.

Valve seals....Wonderfull. But wait. I thought white smoke signified coolant getting burnt, blue smoke is oil, and black smoke occurs under rich running conditions? And does anyone know were a good write up/video is to changing the valve seals?

I don't find it stupid, it can't handle a small burnout, how would he expect it to handle anything else?

Uhh... That was OP posting that. Regardless it wasn't small, the engine got over revved.

It could still be valve seals, older Chevys would let out a puff of white smoke on start up when the valve seals finally wear out.

One way to find out is do a hydrocarbon test. They sell/rent the kit at most auto places.

Anyone know were I can find a good write up/video on changing the valve seals? My engine is the KA24DE. The only motors I have pulled apart have been on a 99 grand am gt 3400, and a 94 honda accord 2.2L, and those were just to change the head gasket. I have never been into a DOHC engine before...

white smoke = coolant
blue smoke = oil
black smoke = fuel
... or black can be all of the above sometimes.

Either way the smell will tell you what it is. If its a KA engine, the intake shares a water neck, and sometimes it can leak near the no1 runner. I don't know the SR enough, maybe its the same?

The smoke does have a distinct smell.. But it looks white to me. Like its straight out of a steam engine.

Not that I can tell. It wasn't full to begin with though.. I've been driving it all over creation though. I'll fill the coolant and start keeping an eye one it. And chime in in a day or so.

We keep saying it because oil can burn white as well. It just depends on the amount that is burning.
