KA just installed testpipe and leaks

hi everyone. i just installed my test pipe and it leaks. i did not have any leaks with stock/oem cat converter. i torqued the crap out of the bolts after first start up/found the leaks. it is actually leaking on both ends of the test pipe top and bottom. again torqued the crap out of the bolts/nuts which helped the leak but it still is leaking. i did use new gaskets as well. i was wondering if i used the "orange" silicone it would solve the problem. feed back please. thanks again zilvia.

If you have a mid-pipe section behind the TP, you can always loosen it and try to adjust the TP a bit. Also, the bolts on the flanges need to be tight, but not TOO tight- sometimes overtightening them will cause leaks too. Lastly, make sure you have plenty of thread left on the bolts (not shanking them out).

As far as silicone stuff goes, I got no clue- I have usually been able to stop leaking by making adjustments. GL!

i have a 1 piece aftermarket header to test pipe. i just did some more searching, think i will try the orange RTV silicone tonite see if that helps it. exhaust leaks are so annoying, you know. work case i will just hollow out my oem cat and put it on, hope i do not have to do this.

Yes the rtv silicone will work for this. I had it on the gasket because my ISIS test pipe leaks too.

just did the orange rtv silicone and it worked!!! seems to be holding, i am curious for how long but we will see. the exhaust sound is definitely deeper now, i like it. and it seems to really rev freer from like 3k rpm up to 6k rpm, where as before it would start to slow around 4500 rpm. i have k&n drop in filter, header and stock exhaust piping with aftermarket muffler. thanks for all the replies.

It should last a long time. Mine was kept sealed for over a year but I removed it to install another exhaust.
