Ok i have a straight through header-back exhaust with a magnaflow round muffler and a high flow cat. This thing is loud. Need to silence it a bit. One problem though, the tailpipe end is 2.5" (just like the rest of the exhaust) so i cant stick one of those resonators in there.... any ideas on how i can silence this bish?

Apexi ECV (Exhaust Control Valve)
I just purchased an 80mm one for my exhaust (Blitz Nur Spec)
It allows you to adjust the exhaust level from inside your car.

u talking bout these??? that looks australian money, but from the looks of it, it's way more than i'm planning to spend

I did find some arospeed ones for like $140 so thats prolly the general price. My exhaust cost $170. So no, i'm not buying those. Im looking for really cheap stuff (like what ace did with his dd). Like something around $10-$15

acinhole used the stock silancers and ran steel wool around them nothing more then that.. oh ya the tubo helped ^_^

Already got one of those. And the stock silencers won't work for dual N1's (talked to ace already).

I'm going to try to find a butterfly valve and stick it just after the dummy cat.

yeah fuck it. I messed the whole day yesterday, and pretty unsuccessfully. Well, the exhaust is reduced to 1 3/4" and i can now rev up to 3K w/o being too loud, but afterwords, it gets loud. Driving on a highway is a nono. Think i'll bend over a little (i've been doing that alot in the past week) and get myself a 4" summit glasspack for $20. Hopefully if i add that, with a silencer it will be street drivable.

An acquaintance of mine who's fabricated a few 3" exhausts welded up a glasspack/cherrybomb up to one he had made for a friend. The thing made very little difference and the car was still unbearably loud

You should just get a resonator

didnt get any. could u resend?

I have a cherry bomb on the 240, and it quietes things down a whole lot. But due to its design, its very restrictive, so rpms don't rise as fast as w/o it. The exhaust that needs to be silenced, has to stay straight through as much as possible.
