SR20DET Exhaust

Quick question, if im running a 3inch straight pipe can i just add the stock muffler in the end or will it effect the motors performance? Just a random thought. Im trying to keep a low profile with cops and low gearing doesnt always help. Thanks.

Im not too sure abou that question.... I was wondering the same thing with my car. Lol
I went with the Megan type 2 catback. It's 3in piping, and the muffler is stock looking canister. Honestly it's a pretty darn good exhaust! You will NOT BE DISSAPOINTED!!!
The price on it is not too bad either. You can get one from Phase2 for about $340.
I've have the HKS hi-power, and Apexi catbacks in the past.
Honestly I LOVE the way the Megan unit Looks, and performs!

the flow of an exhaust is only as good as its smallest point.

So yes, having the stock muffler on there WILL restrict it.

Imma be completely honest with you!
It looks like the stock exhaust the 240sx comes with( just the muffler tip part)
But it is just as loud as any 3in catback, the reason this is, is because it has no resonator.
Any exhaust with no cat, and resonator will be a little loud. But if you get a hi performance cat for example: Catco 3in cat, it will reduce the noise level and get the most bang for your buck!
If you decided to go to a muffler shop and do 3in piping all the way, (except the muffler tip) it will be just as loud as the Megan type two!

But yes it is a little loud, but not too much like those annoying Hondas!
Just get this Catback!!!
TRUST me, you will not be dissapointed, the performance is awesome on it, if you have diwnpipe, test pipe, to go with it.

Mine had a big canister and it was loud as shit. So I added a Magnaflow
muffler at the end and it quieten it down a lot and it sounds a whole lot better. With the old canister I was stopped and ticketed for having an unsafe / improper equipment on the car blah blah blah. It has been a good 3+ years with this muffler and no tickets or bullshit from the Police about it. Oh and they do sell mufflers with dual tips that look a lot like stock, Good Luck.

factory nissan exhaust on S14 240sx is identical on KA24 and SR20DET engines from the factory. The Silvia S14 can produce 250-280rwhp through the OEM exhaust system just fine.

Talking megan type 2

This is the exhaust I have on my car right now!
I had the HKS and Apexi catbacks in the past, but I got pulled over a lot with the Apexi just cause of the size and apperance of the muffler. I went with the Megan type2 model cause of it's discrete look!
Hope this helps what you looking for.
