Who here has open diff and NEEDS LSD?

I have open diff. I went to an event without it, it sucks..... you try your cars heart out and cant drift worth crap. "tried" doing the skidpad... haha... what a joke. After i went aroudn the cones about 4 turns I just uped and left the area and let the next car do its thing. Then came the "S" turns, managed to break some traction but couldnt do it. All of this on soft compound tires and DRY DRY day! Funny stuff. But I had fun so it all didnt matter, until my friends showed me a video of what I was doing......

I think mine and another car were the only ones there without LSD. my car is stock.... i want my Kaaz soon........... gimme gimme gimme!

Tell me who needs LSD for drift!

and post your open diff horror stories.

Hah I drifted on Open Diff for 2 years, and I could get it sliding WAY nice, if you cant get it sliding with open diff, and stock suspention, maybe you should give up. Seriusly, it just takes time, and practice, oviously you have been misinformed and told that LSD is the Quick fix for people who want to drift, sorry wrong choice. Maybe you should just by some more track time

you ever try doing the skidpad with open diff??? If you have then you can honestly say that YOU NEED LSD to do that one. As for the S turn drifts, yeah I can get it sliding a bit, but maybe my soft compound tires had something to do with the inability to drift. I can do it well on some moist pavement, but dry pavement with soft comp is tough to maintain the drift...... event the instructors at the events said it would nearly be impossible for me to get the car sideways and maintain it. SOOOOOO..... i need new tires too... hehe....

Drift day 13 with an Open diff was alright for me, but we had rain,

the skidpad really was a joke most of the time, one time when I was out there I just got fed up with doing "donuts" so I went around the cones pretty wide in second gear just smoking one tire, I made a really really big cloud/ring of smoke, some people were cheering for me when I was done, so that was fun,

my biggest problem is when the rear grips when I try drifting open diff, it seems kind of random to me, so its hard to time my countersteer/(other kind of steer?) so I end up fishtailing when i leave the drift,

the way I see it learning to drift with an open differential can be good or bad, but dont quote me, I can't say that i have learned to drift, learning with an LSD should be more consistent for us?

Im assuming you drive an S13? my s13 was the car I had at drift day, in rain you can have more fun on the skidpad, but it's still pretty lame,

I havent done any events with my s14 but on an open diff it seems to do donuts a lot easier, tho I have only tried once, but it really does feel a lot different.

I live in east county SD, the really far east part of it, I get snow at my house sometimes and the mountains that I live by get snow pretty good,

just a couple months ago me and a friend took my fastback up some unmaintained road goin uphill to some observation tower, rear end really likes the snow, there was a ford ranger with 4 wheel drive that was having trouble making it up, and when he saw my car he was surprised.

yeah i have an s13,
Open diff makes things a bit unpredictable as well to maintain the drifts. I mean yeah, it isnt anything to get the car sideways, but to countersteer and keep the car maintaining a drift with open diff is hard. Once you start the drift and try to apply power, its unpredictable to where the power will go. I know I need more practice, but I just want to hear other people's story about their thoughts on open diff.

I personally have never had a problem with drifting in an open diff. I will say I have trouble making the car straighten out from time to time, but I blame that on me still learning how to drift. And Ive heard of an LSD actually making it harder for a learner to drift...Cant say ive ever experienced that tho.

Do you even have a 240 SR... and yea, getting LSD will make it harder to slide and then harder to controll, but in the end it would be 100x better when you get used to it. I love when ppl have full "driftsetups" SR, coils, LSD the works and they try to drift and it looks like a high speed burnout spinout contest

VRRRRRRRRRRROOOM PSHHHHH :Spinnout: VRRRRRRRRRRRRRRMMMMMMMMM PSHHH :Spinout:
