I need an exhaust...

I'm just at the early stage of modding my S14. I've already got coilovers, gonna get a brake upgrade, and a seat, but I figure I should do something for power and response. So I'm looking for an exhaust.

Here's the issue: it needs to be quiet. Now, I can deal with a bit louder, but I live in a neighborhood where I can't have some loud D1-spec exhaust or anything. I need to be able to come home at 3AM and not wake anyone up. But I still would like the increased performance, just not to the same degree as a high-performance exhaust. I guess what i'm looking for is a "silent" exhaust, as the manufacturers call them.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Also, keep in mind that I've got a KA24, and I'm not really planning a swap, as I really don't want to get busted for one. (I got pulled over by a cop the other day who was clearly looking for one. Upon not finding it, he gave me a ticket for doing 78 in a 70 zone.....BS......)

I've heard that the N1 is relatively loud. Is that incorrect?

Ex-mag is a good choice. I would go with the Border 3. I have this on my 84 corolla and it's smooooth. There's also the Greddy SP/MX series. As for the greddy exhausts, they're pretty quiet. I don't think they make the evo for 240's but the last time I heard one, it sounded like a bumble bee.

HKS or Buddy club's "Silent" type full stainless exhausts.

www.hksusa.com - theres a 75mm silent hiper it looks like the previous version but is both full stainless and Jasma certified (under 95 DB)

Nope, they're two different exhausts. The gtII is loud and big. (In comparison to the exmag at least)

I'd probably be interested (depending on price/timing) in a group buy on the ExMag. My car's charcoal gray, why would I want to waste the stealth by bolting on a loud-ass exhaust?
