ka24e... yuckiness

got a 90 sohc ka24e....
car has HORRIBLE idle...... idles at 100-200... almost dies...
blows black smoke and engine sounds bad......
the car also sometimes will start... not all the time.....
car only stays alive if I keep foot on gas....
when the car is running (very risky) I can only get power from 1k-2k rpms, after that... the car just doesnt do anything else but jerks, even at full throttle.....

if anyone in the East Bay area can take a look at it and help me out, it would be awesome. Also, should I just buy another ka24e or rebuild this guy? of course... someone has to check this out for me, I'm totally clueless.....
new plugs wires, rotor, cap, plugs, alternator. Checked fuel pump and its fine, checked sparks and its fine....... Im not a mechanic, need some help on this one. thanks people.

spark plugs, plug wires, make sure all you're cylinders are running. Sometimes a kinked or "damaged" plug wire can cause one cylinder NOT to be running at all.

Did the problem just start recently or has it always been this way?

well, i had shitty idle problems at first... and sometimes it wouldnt start..... now its really bad... to a point i can't drive it safely in the streets....

update... I checked the plug wires and plugs, they all fire.... also swapped the MAF, still no go.....
anyone know of a good engine rebuild place or if anyone would be willing to do an engine swap for some cash? let me know.
