I only have a quick question regarding a 4 to 5 lug swap on an s14. I have searched the many different forums and search engines with no prevail. Any help is appriciated.

When pulling the old 4 lug hubs is there a special tool needed? And if not, what would be the steps? Thx.

theres a tool called a hub puller which makes the job easier. i tihnk you can rent it at kragen

Buying the rear bearings, i think they are like $90 ea., will make the rear installation alot easier. All you would need to do is remove the whole rear hub assembly + bearings, which the bearings are held by 4 bolts onto the spindles/knuckles, machine or manual press the new bearings and hubs, and put everything back.

The front hubs just slide off. The bearings already come assembled with it.

I did the rears the hard way. My dad and I manually took off the bearings using various tools to chissel at the little gap between the two so they will get pushed apart. Takes a little time but it will work. I can say that they can take a beating. To press the old bearings to the new hubs, we used a long 4x4 wood block and just wack them together. Of course when you hit it, make sure its flush.

We used an axle puller ( can be rented at autozone) on the rears to push the joint/axle inwards because of rust. Also, the 2nd hardest thing about the rears besides manually taking the bearings off is after you take off the 4 bolts holding the bearings, the assembly will still be in place. The bearings are pressed a little onto the spindles. So we used a chissel on the groove between the bearings and hub and tapped it off. The vibrations will make it come loose.
