Question/input from those in the military
I'll be getting out of active duty soon and going guard was recently suggested by some of my superiors. Honestly it wasnt something Ive ever really thought about. But sounds like it might be a smart move. Anyone have any experience or stories? Thanks fellas

Force shaping? Talk to the Guards recruiter...if you ended up going into a full time guard slot, you'd still be working full time, with active duty guys, like nothing happened.

Got an E-4 in my shop who will be getting out next month to go Guard as an O-3 in his home state doing the exact same job we do now.
Wrong section btw. |

Cool, thanks for the input,
Nope, no force shaping, but my cross training didnt go through so Im not playing this game anymore. Yeah, one of my friends was talking about a full time guard gig. How the ffuuu.... Does an E-4 jump to an O-3!? What service is that? Oh yeah, Ive seen first hand how much chill my job is on the other side. Thats probably why Im considering it lol. Also Im all about getting in on the deployments. I enjoyed "playing" in the desert. Going guard, or reserves like you mentioned, and then having it turn out to be a joke is also a concern. But how easy/hard is it to get out of that contract? You just told them your other job was getting in the way? |
