![]() I'm looking to get a new car but I cant decide what to get for the life of me. I have a little over $10,000 to play with and I want to make a good choice. I've been telling myself for a while that I'll just get another 240 but I cant seem to find any that I really like in my area. It needs to be fast, have a clean look, a large aftermarket and 4 seats. I dont like fwd or most american styling.
What I'm really asking is a personal question to you guys. If you were in my position what would you get? Whats your favorite car that you've ever owned? Thanks |

A pre-paid debit card so you can take the bus, pay your court costs, and pay for your medical injuries when your 'fast' car hits something or someone at a super cool 'fast' speed.

Put 10gs on an frs or genesis payments would be like 220 a month, it's under warranty, in 5 years you can have a paid off newer car and in the process build your credit for that house. Granted its not the fastest but its fun and goes the speed limit.
That's my opinion I've wasted a ton of money fixing used cars it's a great feeling to get in a car and know its gonna start and get 30 mpgs. |

Your money
Your decision None of us are you, and none of us knows your tastes, preferences or personal little quirks. What you decide upon is PURELY on you. The only suggestion I would make would be to not go blowing that money stupidly. Buying a "fast car," probably to modify, at the age of 19 is "blowing that money stupidly." I will leave this open for now in hopes that someone else talks some sense into you. |

10k @ 19!? Want to blow it on a car?
You'll see that the 10k won't last! Be smart. Buy a reliable and affordable car. Put that money away and you'll always have a cushion when you need to buy something or bills. Philip said it best. It's your money, you do what you want with it. Your tastes, preferences, etc. Since you got big boy money to play with, let's practice a big boy skill called.... Make your own decisions. |

Once, and for all. The people here aren't trying to be dicks, they just want to give you knowledge, so you don't make major financial mistakes.
A lot of people here (myself included) have made or watched a friend make these mistakes. I don't know if you follow the news or not, but the Economy is in the shitter right now. I'd suggest buying a cheap car that you don't have to dump money into until you have a stable job and are not living on the grace of your parents (housing, car storage, money, food, ect. Think about it.) You have plenty of time to buy a fast car later on. There are plenty of choices that you can have for cheap and will be reliable, just remember to go STOCK if you buy a car with aftermarket support. OEM = Reliable in most cases. As for cars. If you find a stock 240, congrats. It's pretty much still a beater. And if you're like me, you'll feel bad letting mother nature beat it into the ground (road grime, salt, birds, trees, other drivers/cars), and you'll try to make it perfect. Don't. Hell, if I'd known what I do now about these cars, I'd probably have waited till I had a good job to sort the little niggly problems out... As for reliable cars you can buy, well Hondas. Hate and hate and hate. But what most people hate is that they're cheap little economy cars with very annoying drivers, who modify them to be ridiculous (blanket statement) but if you buy a STOCK Civic, you'll get reliable transportation (in most cases) that can still be fun. Same goes for Mazda. Miatas are great driver's cars, and relatively reliable. Plus learning how to drive fast (High Performance Driving Events, Autocross, Ect) on a cheap car, will be worth more later in life than crashing a fast/expensive car now. Phlip said it, it's your money and you need to pick it yourself. But the rest of us are going to tell you not to buy a 240, or anything actually worth that 10 grand. Save your money and don't be dumb with it. It will pay off a lot in the long run. I know how I was when I was 19. This would have gone in one ear and out some other hole. DON'T BE LIKE ME, GUY!

Did u want 4 functional seats? Cause if so count out another 240! Haha you could put a nice down payment on an Evo or Sti. Either of those cars will meet all your needs. Let us know how it turns out

Get a genesis coupe lol 2.0T over the 3.8 but thats just me...
you should also look into investing some money, your 19? Get into network marketing man lol best thing you can do in your life..trust me im pretty happy with making money while i sleep ^______^ but if you wanna 240 get one, everyones going to basically say the same thing this all comes down to you, your better off asking the person who knows YOU the most and is also into cars just as much if not more than you. maybe try playing forza/Gran Turismo, or NFS to get a idea for what kind of car you want lol

Invest into getting some kind of skill (welding etc) and make money doing it and save the rest. Cars come and go and at 19 you have a lot of time left to mess with cars. Get yourself a beater something reliable and good on gas.
