it's the heat shield and funky portions of the stock exhaust, and the front lip that gets scraped... depends on what kind of roads you drive on...

the reason why i ask is i have like 4 1/2 inches of clearance where my crossmember is, and i have yet to lower it. I wanna put 18's on it and make it not look rally racer, but i have a feeling that i may have clearance issues. has anyone ever measure their ride height before and after 18's on a 240?

w/ 18's and not rubber-band tires, it will give you a nice look and enough clearance... IMO

Well my s14 sits at 2inches lower then stock and it has perfect clearence. Sometimes scratch on higher speed bumps but other then that you can go over most bumps straight.

My lip takes a beating daily. I go into driveways and anything like that at angle which helps a lot.

Mine's lowered about 1.5" or so, only things to really hit are my 3" downpipe flange and the rear section of my exhaust (n1 dual).

It's not like your the first person to lower that car man, tons of people are driving lowered 240's. Same as any other car you lower, pick where you drive. Even if you do scrape once ina while it's not really going to hurt anything.

Becareful if you're going to lower it. One time I got stuck at my friends apartment. It was raining so the ground was slippery too but it was embarassing. I had to tell my friend to go out and lift up the front so the tires will touch the ground. Lucky for me, there was no cars behind or girls watching.

Mine was lowered 1.8 in the front and 1.6 in the back on 18's with 40 profile tires and the rear issues i had were with my bomex front bumper. I still wish the actual car was lower, frame rails and all but I dont think its going to happen on 18's it'll just rub.

Bah, I had major clearance issues today.
I went to the bank, the same driveway I've always gone up before with no problems, but this time I went up, scraped, and SLID BACK DOWN, TWICE!! Finally on the third try I forced it up the driveway (go KA powa!). Some lady in a minivan was watching the whole thing, waiting for me to get out of the way so she could leave.
Yeah, that sucked balls.

factory front lip or aftermarket bumper will scrape anywhere (hope its not fiberglass!) if you are lowered. exhaust, not so much.
mine is only lowered a couple inches but apparently it doesn't clear some people's alignment racks.

That reminds me....I went with a freind to Jiffy Lube, and go to talking to the staff their and they asked me to bring in my S13 just so they could see it,so I brought it in and they were looking at it and whatever, and the manager was there, and he was saying that it wasn't tall enough to make it in safely, and they wouldn't do service on it. I thought that was interesting. They asked how much I had lowered it,and if I had a body kit. Gotta love that stock S13 chassis. (bone stock....every suspension part thats been replaced OEM Nissan parts were used by the former owner)
