Walburo internal short?

Hey guys, so the other day I started popping fuel pump fuses. It was once about every 2 days now its every time the pump is primed. I checked the usual harness culprits but didn't find any bad wiring.

That led to me unplugging the pump, putting a good fuse in and sure enough the fuse doesn't blow when you turn the key. Which makes me believe the short is happening inside the pump.

Is this common with Walbro pumps or is my diagnosing completely off?

walbro is usally a reliable pump...can get new one if you think its bad...they also make oem pumps similar to denso

Are you sure your connections to the pump are good?

Have you tried wiring the pump to a battery with a fuse?

Also, are you sure there is nothing else spliced into that line? it's not usually common but I've seen a few people tap into the power wire which isn't recommended.

To the best of my knowledge, no. I got the car completely unmolested (hard to believe right) and have done all the work on the car myself. As for the 2 connectors at the pump, visually they look fine. I tried looking up what the resistance should be for the connectors, but couldn't find anything.

I got in contact with Walbro and they're sending me a new one. Warranties are great. Once installed I'll post back whether or not that was the fix. Fingers crossed!

It's possible, I know, however I have a hard time thinking the gears in the pump were binding, let alone enough to cause the pump to short out. Honestly in my experience I haven't ever heard of it.
Definitely update with what happens after the pump swap, but make sure if you dick or tinker with anything between now and then, you update the situation.
