I just bought some intelliglow needles for my 90 fastback and am trying to install them, but I cant even get the f-ing black instrument cluster cover off. It's the thing that has the hazards, cruise, and rear wiper contols on it. I got it completely loose, but the damn tilt steering lever is in the way so I can't take it off, so I can't even get to the gauge cluster. If anyone has the solution or know a way I could get a fsm, I would be very appreciative. Thanks

drop the steering column.the tilt lever goes with it.

ha, "drop the steering column" doesnt mean "take advantage of the tilt" it means "drop the steering column" and defenitly a nice way to say thanks...

Take the plactic cover on the steering colum off where your turn signal and wiper lever is, you should be able to slide the cluster cover off easily. That's what I did with my S14, not sure if it would work on the S13.

You dont need to drop your steering column. I've done this 3 times in my s13. Tilt the wheel down like you have it, take off the steering column cover pieces, take out all the screws for the thing that holds the hazard, light, defrost buttons, etc etc..get that moving around. Undo all the screws for the gauge cluster, clock the cluster up and back..then sideways, then back up, then back, then more sideways then pull out. Oh, during this whole process, you have to constantly move the steering wheel up and down for screwdriver clearance.

Or you could just listen to the other people on the board and drop the steering column. Hell of a lot easier.
