KADE chirping/ticking?? help

My car lately has been making a chirping noise, its like a bird chirp mixed with a lifter tick kinda sound. Its somewhat loud and really really annoying. Its there at idle and picks up speed when i rev, untill abour 3 or 35 when i can't hear it anymore.

I tried to track it down but it seems to be comming from everywhere lol, I can't find it. Just echoing through the engine bay.

Today i went out there and put some tension on the fan when the engine was running to see if i slowed the sound of stopped it, well the sound stopped and then the engine started knocking.. pretty loudly i might add. Shut it off, started it and reved a few times and then engine was ticking very loud and violent. Drove it around the block and now its back to the chirping help

Does it sound like it's coming from the top of the valve cover? put your ear close but don't get your head cut off by the fan.

and don't REV your car for no reason if you're hearing funny noises.

i listened closely and i seriously can not tell if its comming from the head. i know when it started ticking it was comming from the head, but the knocking sounded like it was at the exhaust mani. When i say reved i mean only to 2500 max. Just the get things moving along alittle faster. But the chirping i cannot pin point

What do you mean put tension on the fan???

Anyway, it "could" be your belts or pulleys - try taking off the a/c pump & power steering belts just to test it to make sure it's not something simple like that.

The lifter tick, did you check your oil levels yet - when was the last time you changed your oil?

I'm just trying to eliminate the obvious.

To help you pinpoint the sounds, take a doctor's stethoscope (sp?) or long screwdriver w/ your ear at the handle side, and put the other end on bolts and various parts of the engine to see where the sound is the loudest, then ppl can diagnose from there.

haha, well tension on the fan, eh lets not talk about that, but i did nothing to hurt it. My oil levels are fine, new oil and everything just put in about 200 miles ago. A funny thing happened today, well not funny but strange. I was driving down the interstate and i lost oil pressure. My light came on and my engine started ticking like crazy at any rpm about 2000. I couldn't pull over so i had to drive like a mile like that till an offramp. shut the car off, checked the oil, oil is full. started it back up and i had pressure again. wtf

SOHC? My engine does this sometimes when i over rev it. The valves get sticky, all I do to fix it is pour about a quart of oil in there and rev the engine around 3-4k for about 5 mins. But that's just me, Id have to listen to your engine to actually know if its the same problem.. I wouldnt recommend it if you think you're gonna lose oil press. again.

this is a VERY common problem for KADE's.

im not 100% sure, but it sounds like the timing chain rattle. dont worry about it, just forget it.

well ive had chain rattle before, normaly you just get the rattle under acceleration, or load, but the squeek/ chirp is always tere. it went away once but only for a few minutes. I mean it could be the tensioner but who knows.

well the noise is all gone, i was taking off my fan and i noticed there was only 2 nuts out of the four holding it on, and they were right next to each other so the fan worked its was alittle sideways and was knicking a clamp on the waterpump which was causing it to click/echo through the whole engine.. yay
