KA KA24DE base timing correct?

I just want some feedback to make sure this is the way it is suppose to be on before fine tuning with a timing light. I want to rule out this as a reason for my possible no start.

Cam lobes faces fenders

Crank pulley showing TDC

Distributor on number 1

I just want to make sure I am on the dot on this one and it should technically start.

It's hard to tell from the pic but it looks like you might be a tooth off on the dizzy. It should be rotated counterclockwise slightly more. And its very hard to tell if your cams are correct. They should both be opposite from each other and pointed straight out towards fenders.

I haven't tried to start it yet so I'll pull it and adjust and come back with another photo. I have been having troubles with this thing for a few days and just want to make sure it will at least start up so I can move it. Be right back

To check mechanical timing. Remove valve cover. Just because the lobe is facing the fender doesnt mean its correct. You have to look at both cams. The links and the distributor marks and crank marks. If all correct. Will fire right up and u can check it with a timing light. Repost pics if possible with cover off

I did a 248/248 cam swap and it is set at TDC from when I did the swap. I just wanted to make sure that the cams showed that I was in the compression cycle. It's late and if it doesn't fire up tonight I'll open her up tomorrow as it is dark and rather cold out right now.

Do not try and start before you do a complete cycle by hand to make sure that there are no interferences!!!

Well I have a bad injector and the cold as a combination just doesn't want it to start up. Guess I'll have to wait until I get that injector before another try.

Well great it started.....can you keep us posted on your hot cam swap? Have you done this swap before??

I am almost done rebuilding my motor but being a budget I am considering this same swap...

Thanks

I hadn't even touched the inside of the motor or seen it before I already had the cam. I bought it off a guy here. I went off the fsm and a jim wolf technology guide on how to change cams. I needed a valve cover gasket due to a small oil leak and decided to do it then. It wasn't difficult just getting the chain back on was hard. That's why I had problems with timing because I had never done it before. It was about $30 for the cam and not hard at all to do. Take one out put the other back in the same way. Pm me if you need any help.

Its not about where the rotor is pointing as much as it is about the marks on the dizzy lining up.
Glad you got it sorted out.
