Buying a 240SX!!!
I'm thinking of buying a 1995 240sx, are there any issues or problems that I should be concern with or look for when I'm inspecting the car? Also the car is a clean title with 115000 miles all stock and the seller wants 6500 for it, is that a good deals for a 240?

Is it worth that much to you? That's what 240sx prices are. Theirs not so much of a guideline. As for things to check, the main frame rail esp. By the front fender main frame rail, General engine care, see if it's 4 or 5 lug, what diff is in it, are all power options working, drives fine etc. Just make sure it seems worth it to you.

Body is clean, interior and exterior. The car is used only for work and back, or that's what the guy told me. But I do think that 6500 is a little bit too much and what's the difference if it's 4 or 5 lugs?

Ditto! I can get a decently clean SR swapped Zenki for that price and OP wanna pay all that for a bone stock one? Hell naw. 115k is a lot of damn miles. This is not some barnyard bargain price, IMO.Personally, I wouldn't pay more than $4500 for a Zenki. And it better have 5 lug, 5spd, VSLD, ABS, power everything, sunroof and be clean as hell for that price. I only paid $3500 for mine, but it was auto.

I would probably offer between $3500-$4500, completely stock for $6500 sounds a lil bit over the top.

It's pretty much the same as other vehicles. With a couple exceptions. If it is 'stock' but has a welded differential then it has definitely been drifted. So I would ask about that. lol
What I do is: -Bring Compression tester and make sure engine compression is good and consistent. -Listen for any knocks whatsoever when the engine is running. This could lead to many different critical engine issues that wouldn't be worth your time. Especially for the price. -Look at what all has had to been replaced. Gives you an idea of some issues that may have arrived, or could arise. -Check the welds on the car, under the hood especially. If they all look factory, that's good. If not, that's an easy way to tell that it has been in a collision. That's about it. If it's an all stock well taken care of s14, with only 115,000 miles. I would say that's well worth it. You could probably get it for a few hundred less, but not much. Hope this helps. I am still pretty new at this myself though, so I would wait for everyone else to respond too. ![]() ***EDIT*** I read $5500, not $6500. That's a little high. However not as crazy as it might seem. The price of a well kept stock 240sx is just going up. |

After Drift Garage aired on Youtube, expect 240 prices to rise even higher people. A clean bone stock rust free 240 is easily worth 5-6k here in the midwest. All depends on the buyer.
I bought a stock S14 zenki for 6k because the interior was flawless, VLSD, power everything, sunroof, 120k miles, and completely rust free (wasn't even rust under the battery). I ended up buying a SR swapped S13 for 5k as a project so i sold the S14 for 6k. Didn't lose a dollar on it. To the right buyer, the car can be worth it. Prices will only go up. |

![]() For the OP though, I wouldn't pay that much if I were located in Cali. Way more selection in the area that you could find a good deal. My case is somewhat different. |

Hmm, Minnesota it would be hard pressed to sell one for that price. I even considered whether or not listing mine for 3,700 was to much.

I don't care where it is. Only way i would pay near 7k for a 20+ year old 240sx , is if it was coming from Japan.
And i don't care much about imported cars... |

Small things that can cost $$ money to repair: Broken/nonworking window switches (especially driver's side). Cracked dash or door panels. Worn suspension bushings (mainly, front tension rods and rear subframe bushings).

I agree that cali prices are unfortunetly high. Winter is the best time to buy imports(eco/tuners), cuz from now til after summer the prices are only going to go up. Still tho, $6500 IS TOO MUCH for a stock 240. I live in cali too and I've seen nicely done zenki's w/ sr swaps & clean Kouki's for less.
I know I over paid for my 95 but I was getting desperate cuz the ones that come up for sale are either overpriced / salvaged / or busted up pos. |

its called supply in demand kids! its a sellers market now. clean 240s are very rare and arent easy to come by. if you want something that isnt a rolling turd, then youre gonna pay a bit extra.
im gonna go ahead and lock this thread now since there have been enough opinions voiced on a topic that is going to wind up turning into a flame war! |
