Engine problem...need help!!!!

ok, so iam lookin into getting this 89' 240sx coupe with 117k mi from a guy, he said that the engine starts and idles, but when you try to put it into 1st and start to go it stalls and shuts off, he said that he got a new four injectors with the rail, brand new filter spark cap and rotor, brand new mass air flow sensor, brand new throtle position sensor...so i dont know what is wrong with it, i want to get this car as a project car, but i also want to be able to drive it home....so what do you think is wrong with it

does it just shut off and die calmly? or bucks and grinds and all that good stuff?

Sounds like a vacuum leak...see if you can hear a HISSING sound while the engine is idling....trace the sound back to the source & repair that leaking hose.
If you dont' hear any sound, then put the ECU into diagnostic mode & see what codes kick out.
For instructions on how to put the ECU into diagnostic mode go to the FAQ page on www.240sx.org
Click on Engine Trouble Codes...SOHC...
