![]() i will soon upgrade my injectors on my sr and i was suprised at how much the side feed injectors are, but i was thinking about buying an aftermarket top feed fuel rail because the injectors are cheaper.
are there any advantages to having side feed rather than top? and what is a 550cc(side feed) equivilant to ??lbs/hr(top feed) thanks in advance!! |

There really is no benefit to side-feed injectors, and actually at a certain point (basically 800cc + sized injectors) you need to go to top feed. The way side feed works is that the injectors sit in the fuel rail, and all the fuel that's passing down the rail actually has to flow around the injector, so if you've got a large rail, the space the fuel is actually flowing through is much smaller, make sense? I'm going with top-feeds myself. It's cheaper for top-feeds, even after you add the cost of buying a new fuel rail and possibly the resistors for low-impedence injectors. ~matt

Dont forget you are still going to need an ecu upgrade to acccount for the larger injectors, resistors since the injectors are low impedance, a fuel rail, and a fuel pressure guage and adj FPR are recommended. The conversion for cc/min to lb per hour is: CC min + lbs/hour x 10.2
So 52lb/hr injectors are about 530cc, 72lb/hr= 734.4cc |

the price thing... after you pay for the new rail fittings clips etc etc the cost really does even out between the side feeds and the top feeds.
