Insured Mail
Ok so i was in japan and i sent my self an r32 gtr intercooler back to the states through USPS. I insured it and low and behold I get it back with a medium sized dent on top and a chip on the left end tank. Problem is i dont have a sales receipt to confirm the value of this item. Is there anyway I can go about doing this?

Try finding an internet site that sells one, or one close to what you have for close to what you paid or maybe even more, then print the page off and see if they will take that as a proof of the value of it.

i thought that as well, they didnt even ask for the receipt to confirm the value of the fmic. Maybe PHLIP's idea will work. I called usps customer service and they said you have to have some kind of receipt to show value. But who knows...

the rate of insurance is based on the value of the product so of course there is somewhere you list the value with the post office. you cant go insure a 999999999999999 dollar diamond for 1.30 like you can a shirt.

yeah, PHLIP is right. i work at a shipping store, and USPS, FedEx, and UPS are all the same. it's usually nice to be able to have a reciept of your exact item, but in many cases, that's impossible. just find an advertisement from a reputable company for the same kind of thing, and submit that to them. hope this works out for you, i know it can sometimes take a long time to get your claim through with the post office.
