So i bought a drop in swap locally that i was told took finesse to get into 1/2. Well i was figuring it needed new syncros. Well i was wrong, just started tearing it down and found at least 1 broken gear, and one broken shift arm. My question is what are my options for getting my car up and running? I found an rb20 trans local, but the guy wants way to much for it. Ive read a lot of info over the last week, but a lot of it doesnt always coincide.

So can i use ka24 5 speed guts for my rb trans with rb bell housing and tail end housing?

If I remember right the 240sx transmission is close to the RB20 but not 100%. I'd save the money and pick up another RB20 transmission or a RB25 transmission. The gearing is going to be taller with the RB25 but you can find them for 750-850 on ebay from importers.

Yeah ive started looking for just rb20 transmissions. Having issues finding one right now

you can find a z31 turbo (30a) transmission. that's what iam doing, you can also use the 20 bellhousing. and there as strong as a z32 tt tranny.

Ebay was the first place i checked, If i could have got one for anywhere near 400 shipped i probably would have jumped on it.

At this point im hoping to find a trans that will work, trying to find one without losing my ass is the hard part.

If your going to be racing the car save for the RB25 transmission it will take a beating better than the 20.
