battery relocation ?
i'm looking at battery relocation kits and all of them have like 20ft of positive cable and only 3 ft of negative cable.
why is this and what would i do with the extremely short negative cable? |

i would assume the short black (negative) wire would connect to the battery and then to the chassis. therefore it does not need to be that long.
electrical circuits can ground thru the chassis and then get back to the battery that way. |

thanks guys. i've also heard that gasses will permeate right through plastic and that a metal (and much more expensive) box is necessary for safety reasons... is there any truth to this? i dont wanna drop 100 bones on a metal box but if that's what i gotta do....

depending on what yoru final goal is, you can go to just about any marine store and pick up a polyurethane box for 10-20 dollars. the problem with this is that for auto-x you need to have an added battery restraint (j-bars) for a lot of other racing you need an external electrical kill switch and some times an externally vented box.
if you run a sealed lead acid, or an optima, or a dry cell battery, they do not outgas, and therefore they do not have gasses that will permeate anything i went with optima yellow if it helps

are you doing a sr swap. I bought a battery box and then when I found out that I had to drop the fuel tank to get any kind of nice mount going, I just decided to get a miata battery.

well then without dropping the tank how do you tighten the bolts. Im guessing your talking about using self tapping screws or something.

i'll be eventually running a dohc KA-T setup with nitrous for either cooling or an extra kick in the pants. anyhow, what would that have to do with this?
i was just gonna drill some holes and bolt the hooker up. don't see any reason to drop the tank. |
