Hey ive got a quick question for you guys, and girls, what do you think i should do?? i know its usually performance first looks later, but im going into winter here, and more speed isnt exactly what i need. You guys that have to drive them in the winter know what im talking about. Anyway i guess i should get to the point. In the next few months i want to do quite a bit, i have some body work to get done, i want to get my car painted, ive got headers i want to put on, i want to get a new front bumper and hood. All together its a little bit of money ill be dishing out. Oh yeah, and i have to get some new shocks and stuff cause ive got coilovers on the way. So what order you think i should do all this in?? Im open to suggestions, anyone who wants to give me some advice, id appreciate it. thanks.

Oh yeah, and i found out a price to custom mount those skyline tail lights ive got, about 800 ballpark.....ouch!!! Not sure if im gonna go through with it or not! what do you guys think?

I wouldn't do anything with paint until spring because well... pretty paint and winter aren't best friends. I would still suggest getting performance parts first, and worrying about looks later: It's better to be fast first then to look good. Just my $.02.

Mine is gonna be used in winter in Chicago. Think a foot of snowfall. So... I wouldn't want my dope paint job exposed to temperatures below zero and salt and stones and all kinds of stuff.

Just drive more carefully...performance first
Do the paint/bodywork right as it starts to warm up so you can look good all summer.;)

don't worry about it, 240SX's aren't that fast, even with bolt-ons.

This is how I aproach modifying cars.

I start with a few basic performance mods.

Get some wheels, and a clean looking wing.

Deck out the suspension so I can turn as fast as I like.

Get more performance mods.

Get brakes.

More porformance.

Even More Porformance.

Maybe a stereo....

Then just when I cant modify it anymore....

I do stuff to make it look cool.

Because IMHO, a car that is done right and looks clean. Looks better then any nasty wing or body kit or visor or chrome wheels or blue lights etc...

But then thats just me

yeah you guys are probably right. I am orbably gonna get a spoiler when winter is over too. i was thinking about the newer r34 skyline gtr spoiler from just their stock model, its nice subtle and got that jdm touch, what do you think?

what, what, it's true... Well, ok, it's slow on a straight. And the extra 10-20hp you get from some bolt on's not going to change how it handles in snow.

the bolt-ons wil actually make u lose some of ur low-end depending on what u get, so u won't be spinning out nearly as bad on the ice or snow as u would w/ that extra low-end torque that us 240 owners like. i was thinking of getting that r34 stock skyline spoiler as well, they look so #### nice on the skylines, but i don't know if they would fit our cars just right or not. if somebody has measurements or knows that it will work then that's what i'm probably going to get b/c there isn't a big selection for spoilers for the s14's. if the r34 is 2 far off for our cars then i'm just going to get a stock se spoiler n have it painted for my car.

since you're going into winter i'd say you should do your suspension. the wheather shouldn't damage it as much as it would a new paint job or something and it doesn't make it any harder to drive in the snow. just my opinion

You want my advice? Ok, winter is coming I know...Move down here in the bay area where there is no snow...That'll be the only option...J/k...Yeah, you shouldn't paint your car yet or maybe you should but keep it warm and cozy in the garage until the sun comes out again... I suggest you drive a close friends car, or your parents car for now, and wait until after winter...I know it'll be hard for you bro, but you got to suffer the consequence when you get nice things for your car.

since winter is coming, dont do any body work. i know if i did body work here in boston, ma... by spring time it will be all scratched and i would be the city plow if i got a body kit.
what i am doing this winter is, fine tuning what i have, looking at performance parts (not buying till i get a great price), saving money, looking at body kits, and thinking of new mods (and custom mods)

How about a nice LSD! Helps in snow AND summer!

Perfect time to mount some all seasons on those stock rims and add a nice set of Kreuzers for spring!

Can anyone say "Brake Upgrade!" I knew you could

Aside from the fact that the R34 wing is a bit much for an s14, imho, (try the Nismo or K's Aero ones), paint work and winter don't mix. All it takes is one car that didn't see that patch of ice and you could have had that all done for FREE! (instead of having it re-done).

yeah i didnt think of brake work cuz i did mine recently to some nice brombos Xdrilled with axxis pads (very reasonable price)
LSD would be nice but kinda expensive (i wish i had that type of money)
i wouldnt lower my car yet if it has not been done before the winter. mine was lowered this June... so wish me luck, my front bumper is already like 3-4 inches off the ground........ i cant wait for the 12+ inch snow storms... last year we got a 24+ inch snow storm...

well u dont want to be able not to stop when u want to either...... about tapping and the brakes skidding, that is all about the person's ability to drive, you (not you nismos14), but people in general, should learn how to brake and be able to control it, also knowing your car helps.
