do you guys think i can take him?
Here is what i have
1993 nissan 240sx coupe sr20det redtop greddy fmic greddy profec b II boost controller greddy turbo timer walbro 255lph fuel pump greddy type sbov exedy flywheel flexalite dual 12" fans 3in downpipe 3in exhuast he has this It's an '88 Mustang hatchback w/ a stock 5-spd -untouched 5.0L motor (original motor too ) -ET Streets on draglites -stock tranny w/ stock clutch -NOS wet shot -badly fucked up posi (won't have the 9" in until next week @ the earliest, but I don't care) -factory body panels & glass -running pump gas (93 octane) I can pop the hood to prove everything. The only change to the motor is a K&N filter and I destroyed it tonight on a backfire when I missed 3rd. what do you guys think? he is going to be running 93 octane so im thinking he cant have too big of a shot but i dunno for sure. BTW im just running the stock T25 |

what are you talking about? im just wondering wether or not to race this guy? he only races people for cash and i dont really feel like losing if someone can tell me im gonna get smoked. I actually think its gonna be a close race. We will probably run from a roll and a stop.

I guess it depends on what kind of drivers both you are and and how much Nitrous he is running. I've taken a stock 5.0 with a crapy driver once, but he had a bad launch. I think with a better launch it would have been much closer...

maybe if hes using nas, but dont those 5.0s have disgustingly horrible HP numbers. I mean the going to the 4.6 was an upgrade right. (why would you introduce a new sports car model and decrease the power) that means the 5.0 had less than 225 hp. am i correct.

I agree your probably gunna lose, especially if it's going to be a rolling start....but if it's not too much money on the race, and you pull it off, then u have something to tell your kids

5.0s are great for drag...anyone who says otherwise doesn't know what they hell they're talking about. You can buy a Gude head and get 100 HP, pretty cost effective. BTW: How are you so sure of his mods? If I was going to race you for money I'd lie my ass off if I had internal work done.
I think a stock 5.0 will run mid 14s. Lotsa torque too. But I second the notion "racing for money is stoopid." |

Mr. Badlose. note i said slow UNLESS MODIFIED. for a V8 it has pretty horrible numbers bone stock. and he is claiming an "untouched" engine with nos. although i agree that you can trust him and poping the hood won't show everything. Any number of mods can give the 5.0 significant HP gains. Kinda shady, if he only races for money that means he isn't new to this.

dont race him.Youll loose....IF he only races for money, as stated. Your not gonna win your money. Instead why dont you keep your money. and spend it on somthing usefull instead of street racing some chump in a 5.0, its better then racing, getting caught and paying fines and shit.

Also he has drag tires doesnt he? So your saying his car looks stock, and Untouched.. My friends dad has a totaly stock looking 5.0, you pop the hood and it looks stock.. it runs a 12.8 with some ok tires, no nos. Just so you know ppl who race for money rarley are fucking around. My friends races for money in his Talon and runs 12.85 on the track, looks SUPER stock, its a 90 TSI, running 205s all around, all seasons, and 22 PSI, and his motor looks stock.. I say.. Bad idea, just get one of your friends with a fast car to race him, and find out that way.

he probably has a gear also, which helps tremendously. That same set up he has can easily run a mid to low 12. You're toast if he can drive it

wow.....this thread is full of all kinds of bullshit info.
I work for one of the largest most respected mustang specific shops in the country. without diving too far off into all this crap heres some cliffs notes for you. ET Streets + wet kit+ decent driver= you getting owned. Even assuming he has stock heads/cam it would still be a solid mid/low 12 second car with enough nitrous. Your car......hooking good, will at best be a ~12.90 car. (i went a 13.0 on pretty much the same parts as you.....ive yet to run with the new setup) Plus you can figure a bunch of what he is telling you as far as mods is a lie. just a general rule of thumb (i see 10 mustangs on my dyno a week.....many owners arent very forthcoming about whats on/in the car)

the guy is puttin in a 9" rear next week, runs DR's, and at least tells you of his nitrous wet kit? seriously dude... you should know he's trying to bait you.
some info: the 8.8" solid axle in the moostang is really really really tough so if he needs to upgrade... what the hell does that tell you? that isn't a part that just "goes out" on these cars unless you've done something to MAKE it go out. a good rule of thumb: if they only race for money they are almost certainly running at LEAST 12's (or most... whatever...) yeah sure there are retards with 15 second civics that think they're fast that wanna race for cash but it probably wouldn't be much and them suckers are getting pretty rare nowadays... whateva treva |

But anyway who ever asked if my car is that white one its not. I seriously doubt many people from MO have seen my car. Im bringing it out to the soco hooters tommorow night though. sr20det redtop greddy fmic greddy profec b II boost controller greddy turbo timer walbro 255lph fuel pump greddy type sbov exedy flywheel flexalite dual 12" fans 3in downpipe 3in exhuast you have to understand that certain things you list dont do SHIT for performance. electric fans? fuel pump? blow off valve? turbo timer? i mean, these things arent even worth listing.. might as well list your clear front turn signals. those items are just necessary for your car NOT to blow up. going SR? raising boost? you need a fuel pump. you'll want a better intercooler. you'll obviously need a BOV since you cant use the stock one. |
