CA A few S13 problem that I cannot fathom.

Good day fellow Zilvia.net Users.

This is my first post (hopefully not my last).

I have some issues with my CA18DE Silvia S13 Q edition. Some that I can't comprehend. I was wondering if any of you guys have experienced these problems.

Firstly. When i turn of my fog lights and have a multimeter reading the voltage of my battery, the car goes from charging at a stable 13.5V to about 12.4V I found this out when my battery kept going flat. How is this possibru? I can't think of why this would be happening. It keeps draining my battery (only with them on) so lately i haven't been driving with them on and it's been fine. So weird.

Second. My starter motor plays up SOMETIMES, it's so weird. It work one minute then the next minute when i try and start my car it sound the like the starter motor isn't grabbing onto the flywheel and the motor is just frespinning. Such a wired problem. If I move the car forward about an inch in gear (say down a hill or whatever) the car magically starts no problems. If I'm not on a hill i have to nudge the key ever so slightly so it rotates the starter ever so slightly, then it will hit the flywheel and start working? Like Wut.

Thirdly. I have been looking for places where I can get the weatherstrip replaced on my silvia. The sunroof leaks like no tomorrow, and every time I get in my car after rain when I hit the brakes I face Niagara falls. Lol for the meantime I've siliconed up the sunroof because it's a sucking terrible experience. Where have you guys gone to to get new sunroof rubbers etc? can't find them anywhere. Only places are from Nissan and that's in a backorder and will take 6 weeks. Shit.

Fourthly. My silvia idles like shit and runs very rich, when you come off acceleration (even with a cat) the car still backfires, like wut. What can it be? It's not the 02 sensor, runs the same with or without it connected, not the AFM, gave that a good hit with AFM cleaner and when i take it off the car runs like dicks. So can't be that. Only thing I can think of is the coolant temp sensor not working properly and telling my car it's always cold and to richen up the mixture but i have no idea where this sensor is or where to get a replacement from. Shiet.

Thats all for now. Hopefully I've put in detail enough for you to fathom what I am attempting to understand. Thanks A mil. Keep Sillin'

1. Test your alternator? Check grounds. Are those aftermarket fog lights?
2. Probably need to replace or rebuild your starter
3. Ebay, I just ordered a seal for my s14. Had a place that installed sunroofs put it on for me. The seals are actually oem nissan ones from a nissan dealer on there.
4. Replacement from nissan?

1) If your battery is being drained, you need to do a parasitic draw test to determine what is causing it.

2) Sounds like there are broken/stripped teeth on the flywheel. When you move the car in
gear, you are turning the flywheel past the bad teeth and the starter is then able to engage the flywheel.

you'd also hear a grind from time to time when you hit those "missing" teeth mid-startup-cranking.

you can buy a coolant temp sensor at your local parts store. can use both the dohc ka sensor and the silvia sr sensor. its located right next to the front passenger corner of the valve cover on the intake manifold in between the throttle body and the head. its the square connector.

Not saying your o2 is bad, but if it runs the same without o2 connected, I'm not sure how you equate that to "it can't be the o2".....

Depending on how it feels, it may be an injector, or an injector o-ring, causing the bad idle. Depending on how bad it is, it may or may not be flooding, and may or may not be visible in tho form of a soaked plug.

-I don't have a diagonstic machine bruh @logandavenport

-Can't get a coolant temp sensor anywhere in Australia tried Bursons, Repco and all local parts stores. No dice.

-Might be the o2 sensor but a few people have told me that on the CA18 the o2 sensor doesn't do shit..... I've been told by a few "professionals" that it's probs the coolant temp sensor. @mechanicalmoron

-Fixed the starter motor problem! the starter clutch was bad, the clutch was spinning freely and not engaging properly, swapped a new one in, all gravy! @so make like
