hey please dont hate me because i drive a honda.

i have a 89 honda crx si with a 130hp d16z6 and the basic intake exhause headers and that stuff.  i'm thinking about getting a later model 240sx as my next car and i wanted to know what the pros and cons are of getting this car over my crx.  i dont want a car thats slower than mine right now.  (i can beat the stock 240sx)  never raced a modded one.  i hear of people doing the silvia conversion and turboing the brains out of the stock engines.  what are the specs on the silvia engine?  and with that swap would i be able to pass cal emissions?  would u recomend this car over a celica(not the new ones the generation before the new ones)

No Honda-hating from me.  I'm thinking about doing a ZC CRX Si for my little sister...so I have to do some work on mine to keep her behind me.;)
You can turbo the stock KA motor or do a SR20DET swap.  Both capable of respectable numbers.  The stock SR's run between 205 and 250hp depending on which motor you get.  The swap won't pass smog from what I hear, though.  I would recommend the 240 over the older Celica b/c I think they're ugly.  The new GT-S, though, is fast and looks good, too IMHO.  But the RWD is more fun than FWD, but requires a little more caution in the wet/snow.

yo man, don't think we hate you.. we just dis-approve your car... nah lol, but anways. i'd say get a 95-98 se and do a turbo mod.  by the way, does anyone know where i can turn my stock motor in my 90' 240 into turbo? how much would turbo cost? thanks.

Is your motor SOHC or DOHC, look on the www.rollhard.com site for turbo kits that should give you a general idea. As for having it put on your car find a reputable import mechanic and ask them if they would install the kit

Pros: Rare, looks good, RWD, a good deal of potential (KA24DE turbos will start you at 200 hp at the wheels, and there are some rebuilt up to 500hp). No cali emissions with sr20det. Handles better than pretty much any other car in it's price and class

Cons: Pokey factory accelleration, no HP gain from big stickers.

'90 is a SOHC, I think somebody just released a turbo kit for it. Most of these are gonna cost between 3 and 4 thousand.

He's not stock. He's got a ZC motor swap w/ 130hp (at least I guessing that's what he has--really the only way to get 130hp out of a CRX w/o FI)...a decent number in a 2000lb. car--should put it about even w/ a stock 240. Stock CRX Si's have like 106hp and are pretty slow.

I did read that Motorex, an established company in California known for getting us the Skyline, is working on a CARB legal Sr swap....woohooo.....doesn't matter to me though...I live in Florida....no emissions...hehe
