wiring on a custom steering wheel?

I am considering putting a new steering wheel in my 240, but the only thing that is holding me back is that I want to keep my cruise control. Please don't respond to this thread by trying to convince me that I can live without cruise... it is my college car and I live 8 hours from home -- I need it. I am just wondering if I can take a wheel with an "integrated horn button," which I assume has simple wiring to it, and instead wire my cruise control to this horn button (I can live without a horn). There are three buttons on my existing wheel for cruise: "set," cancel," and and "resume." I will only need to "set" button for the most part. Can I do this, or are there any snags in my plan? Oh, also, it is a 1991 SE, so no airbags to fool with

awww can't live w/o cruise? I've driven for multiple 12hr stretches with no cruise.
BUt if you're adamant about NEEDING cruise, all you have to do is rip apart your wheel and extend the wires/buttons to somwhere else. Don't sacrifice your horn button for cruise. It'd be much easier to just relocate those wires/buttons.

You can use this streering wheel.

Then you use these extra buttons and so you can use the whole cruise controll and the horn.

functional, but look goofy as hell.

on second thought, horn buttons are momentary switches. doesn't the cruise control have on/off switches?

But he wants to use the cruis controll so i think ist the only way. Or you can put the cruise controll buttons in the dashboard.

www.importnut.com has a nice install page.

You can also relocate the entire switch somewhere else, I just put an S14 cruise switch on the side of the column, in front of the keyswitch. Took a little grinding but it looks completely OE.
