license plate holders on JDM bumpers

IF you checked my other thread you saw my JDM s14 Kouki bumper. Like other OEM japanese bumpers it has the license plate holder molded in. In PA, front plates arent required, so naturally i dont use or have one. My question is whether anyone has seen some sort of novelty plate or something else that can bolt on there to hide the 2 big squares cut out of it. I've seen integras with little metal plates that bolt to their front plate holder that say "Integra". i dont have any pics, but it looks decent. Any ideas? Or should i be like those veedub guys and put a euro plate on my front

Why not just have the body shop mold it in. Smooth will look better then anything you put on there, IMO.

You could always get a JDM plate... Those light-up ones are pretty sweet...

You will probably need to redrill it to fit the JDM license plate holes.

I can connect you with someone that gets real used Japanese license plates sometimes. He's posted them for sale on here before, I think, and definitely on freshalloy.

Whatever you do, don't get reproduction Japanese plates, they look soooo fake.

Spray the foam black and leave it be. Only a JDM plate will fit up there and it will block air flow.

or you could pay more to the body shop to mold it in.

The US plastic front license plate holder holes actually line up and fit the JDM 180SX and S13 bumper with some modification to the plastic so you can fit US plates. I'd assume the S14 ones are similar.

Edit - I'm stupid, misunderstood a reply

Personally, I'd just run a normal plate up there. Just because it's not required doesn't mean you can't do it. Hell, because it's not a requirement, how about a Wangan-style swing-up license plate rig?

I thought part of the reason for going with the JDM bumper was to look stock with some style. I would have got a aftermarket bumper if you wanted it flush.

mike13, i'm in the same boat as you. I just got my kouki front bumper and i dont know what to do with the front holes either. I'm looking around for some nice alternatives as well. I'll let you know if i find something. Worse comes to worse, just run the front license plate. Let me know if you come across anything cool though before i do!

dood just drill the license plate and put it on the bumper. if you want to look jdm stealth, just do it the right way and keep everything looking "legalized". i.e. that should include IC stealth

yes, thats the same idea, just different text. I'm pretty sure im going to have a piece of carbon fiber made to fit exactly on the plate holder so it doesnt hang over the "mouth". Then i'll just put a nismo/ silvia decal on that. Rice on brothers.

If you're going that rate, don't even bother getting it made, just buy a sheet of CF and cut it out yourself. Plus, you'll have CF you can use for other stuff after that.
