a/f, boost, gauge ?

hey guys im back for a few more little things. By the way SR runs pretty good, I emailed autometer about my boost gauge malfunctioning, if im correct at idle it should sit in vacuum, it doesnt it sits at 0, and if i accelerate a little bit maybe like 2500rpms it reads like its boosting but i know its not, so i asked them but i figured i ask you guys too, i took the copper tubing from the gauge and ran it to the FPR hose down right into the intake manifold, maybe thats the right spot maybe not but it made sense, also my a/f gauge must be hooked up wrong, i ran the wire to the o2 sensor and tapped into the black wire, it read lean, so i took it off tapped into the red wire, it ran rich, i dont no anymore, they light up thats about it so any quick suggestions would make things easier thanks

A/F gauge is pointless. (w.o a wide band sensor) as I am sure a lot of people will tell you.
As far as the boost gauge works. Call them. they are likely to be more helpfull over the phone.

call autometer about the boost gauge like Sirwarrior said and A/F gauges are worthless without it being a wideband type...throw away or sell the A/F gauge and get an EGT (pyrometer) to replace it.

But nobody has been able to give me EGT #'s to use as reference for rich/lean!
I know there are two different locations, but what are the temps one should be striving for for optimal power?

My autometer boost gauge reads 5 when its off. I bought it used, I see some other autometer that read 5 when off otheres read 0. Autometer wont fix it unless i bought it at a store and have the original receipt. Autometer wouldnt give me an answer why it reads 5 when off and when you start the car.

Temps will vary on the location of the EGT probe.
Temps measured before the turbo will vary greatly than the ones that are measured after the turbo.
but it should be somewhere in the 1400-1500 range. if it starts to spike up, you have problems.
There was an article in SCC (Subaru project I think) and they didnt like their 1550F temps, so with the help of some tunning they got it down to 1425F

PS. I found the autometer's service to be pretty good. When I bought a pod form eBay and told them if was gotten from a "friend" but he didnt give me the brackets to hold the pod in place, they said OK and its going to be in mail tommorow. didn't charge me nothing, was very nice.
I say give it a try, and tell them that u got it form a "friend" and see what happens.

after turbo readings are as pointless as that A/F guage. the turbo scews any useable info on the EGT. put it in the collector before the turbo
