Unhappy Potential Suicide JK! need help

Ok, it is a well known thing to make sure that when you change your cams, make sure that the cam gear bolt washers don't fall down the front of the engine. Well, something worse has happened to me. I finally get my car running after a few years, but it was running like dog crap. So, I get in touch with Martin over at Enthalpy and he literally lives 5 min away from me, so he stopped by and adjusted a few things and the car came alive. I had 272s installed with 850s on e85. He texted me telling me that with the size of my injectors, I would be a lot happier with a smaller cam, which I agree.

Long story short, I'm taking my sweet time loosening the cam caps exactly by the FSM. Well, as I'm loosening in order with gradual turns, I was coming to the last run through on each bolt. As you know looking at the front of the engine going left to right, the first set of cam caps on each cam are 1st and 2nd and the order is 2-1-1-2. I was trying to get all the bolts finger tight when I was on the intake "1" and loosened 1 thread to much and THE M#^#@RF#*&!@G BOLT SUCTIONED CUPPED IN MY SOCKET CAUSE OF THE OIL AND THE CAM CAP WASHER FELL DOWN THE FRONT COVER. I wanted to literally set my car on fire.
This is how I felt in this order

What I need help with is, can you get to the bottom of the timing chain if I drop the oil pan? From all the pictures I've seen and looking at the FSM, it looks like I can. I ordered this puppy http://www.amazon.com/V-8-Tools-Magn.../dp/B002YKNOLQ which the head is smaller than 5mm, so hopefully I can get it, but if not, I have to start game planning.

Thanks for reading and any help is appreciated.

Get a magnet and fish around, use electrical tape to dull the magnets power. Best case is its sitting on the baffle plate, if you cant fish it out with a magnet. If you still have the baffle plate that is.

It may not have fallen all the way down which is kinda worse.

I really didn't want to bump this thread up, but I just wanted to say thanks for the help. I dropped the pan and it was sitting on top of the oil baffle.

That's why I love this forum.

Thanks again.
