Normal temp is 180-190, thermostat opens at 170. OE fan kicks on at 203, so 210 isn't unreasonably high, but you should verify the cooling system's components anyway. Engine starts to bog a little by 215, serious damage to hoses by 245 or so. Any more than that and the head gasket is gone.

haha, mine runs at 158F with koyo 2 row, nismo thermostat, nismo rad cap, 30/70 coolant water mixture and a 1/4 bottle of water wetter with oem clutch fan and e-fan. will this damage my engine over time being that its not operating at the right temp?

hmmm what if i dont have a actual water temp gauge but have the stock in dash gauge, where should my sr be running at..koyo radiator with flex a lite 14" fan...tonight it was running hot a couple times. about 2nd notch from HOT mark on the gauge. but when its warmed up and only driving for a while or on the high way its about 1/4 the way maybe a little more up the gauge.

so with what i have would 210 be too high to run i just got done driving back from flordia 11hrs staight at average of 90mph at it stayed right around 190-210 so just wondering if that was bad or not and now that i don't have th clutch fan on anymore i am wondering if the temp will go up more but i dont' have a electric fan........

Johnny5- 158 isn't terribly bad, but in colder weather it may drop more, anything below say 140 and the ring/piston and cylinder tolerances are a little off because they're not up to operating temperature, which will cause a lot more blowby than normal.
Bradman123- the OE gauge is known for it's inaccuracy, middle way on the gauge is anywhere from 160-230, it won't show hot until you're already boiling off water. Get a real gauge to insure you don't damage something. qvester- after a run down the freeway you should have seen cooler temps, double check the cooling system for air pockets or worn parts, unless you were running in a lower gears, turning more rpms, you should have been running about 185-190.

russ, then would an oil catch can be a decent investment for me? i'd like to keep the blowby from going back into the intake if at all possible

how do you check the system for air pockets? is there an easy way cause that would be a possiblity cause i lost some coolant when i isntalled my temp gauge and i then just toppped it off so i guess there would be a possibility let me know thanx.

Johny5- definitely invest in a catch can, you don't want the excess feeding back through and sludging up the intake. At least leave the port vented to atmosphere if nothing else, the more of that crap you pull in the quicker the manifold gums up.
qvester- jack the front end of the car up, high, run it, and crack the bleeder bolt. You should easily see air bubbles bleed out, check the fluid level periodically and add when required.

for what water temp? the best investment is the greddy upper rad hose adapter...
http://www.projectnissan.com/Product...&idproduct=566 greddy makes killer accessories for the gauges, probably gonna pick up and oil press and an oil filter sandwich to top off the line of crap on top of my dash. hey russ, i was looking into catch cans and i like the design idea of cusco but they only make an s13 kit, will this fit s14? thanks again man!

Bradman123- most aftermarket gauges senders can be fitted in the spot for the OE gauge, no need to use a hose adapter.
Johny5- depends on where you mount the can, but any universal can with 15mm hose will work fine.

what size is the upper radiator hose on the sr? so i can get the right adapter size. i cant even see where the factory sensor even is on the thermostat housing to tap into it there or i would, it would look cleaner.

your factory sensor location is at the front of the motor, above the upper rad hose water neck. it is hidden beneath two big plugs on my s14a iirc.
