Buying advice for 240sx
Hey guys, I'm new around here, i am looking for a 240 out of a couple of other cars since as a project. This is the list of 240's i have my eye on.
https://greenville.craigslist.org/cto/5545652029.html https://greenville.craigslist.org/cto/5549574134.html https://hickory.craigslist.org/cto/5544300311.html\ The questions i have are: What do i look for when buying a used 240? What is the process of swapping the ka for an sr20? Are 240's reliable with the ka? Thanks for the help, badge. |

In all seriousness, there isn't a specific set of things you need to look for. Most 240sx have been abused, and it will show. However, rides that are closer to stock tend to be in better shape. So do automatics, since they haven't been as sought after. You'll need to go test drive and see the rides for yourself.
Out of the ones you have listed, the maroon one looks best. You need to figure out the mileage on the engine and the chassis. The other one seems sketchy to me, and I wouldn't really want to touch it. Of course, if you're expecting to do a fair amount of work you could, but just be ready for issues. I bought my 240 stock, and it's excellent. If you don't buy it stock you run the risk of other people's sh*t work causing issues down the road. As for your questions -- What do i look for when buying a used 240? ----- Nothing specific. Most 240s have been abused. Do your best to pinpoint issues and if you don't feel sure about it, wait for something else to come along. Expect to do work on whatever 240 you get. I recommend finding one as close to stock as possible. What is the process of swapping the ka for an sr20? ----- Do a search. There are probably hundreds of writeups on this. Are 240's reliable with the ka? ----- The KA is super reliable, but most have been abused. Still, it's not usually the engine or transmission that have problems.

'Cause he's still gonna get a piece of shit 240 anyway so I might as well help him get a piece of shit 240 that's a little less shitty.

Buy a total beater, find out youre in over your head, then attempt to sell it for more than you bought it for. Seems to be the growing trend over the past 10 years anyway...

None of those 240's look like a winner. But, comparatively, the maroon one seems the best cuz all he did was put shitty suspension on it and run it into a wall. If the only thing you need to do is fix a dent and get non-shitty suspension, you're probably doing ok in the 240 game.
SR swaps are easy as pie now. It's like rooting a phone or putting Kodi on your fire stick. You do a couple of key strokes, and it damn near does it itself. All 240's are gonna be shit if they're on craigslist. A lot of people don't know this, but the root word, Craig, actually is a derivative of the Greek word Craiseus, which means shitty. List is from the Greek derivative Lisos, which translates to grouping. So, it literally translates into shitty grouping. So, hedge your bets on that buddy.
