Whoa, everyone's doing blue now. What's with the hood scoop? Uh oh, now it'll sound like I'm ripping on you. I must say, professional paint jobs are sweet, I for one know I wouldn't spend the dough to have that done, because I have more time than money now that the engine's done. Sweet car, try to get some better lighting in the next set of pics so we can see the paint real well. Should look good with wheels.

So I am expecting your car at RS*R then, enter it in the car show if you don't want to drive, its free (with some prizes to be had).

I used to be in love with C-West kit and hoped my car would be like that (color too), oh well my plans have changed drastically.

Did you do the paint or did you go somewhere? Just wondering cuz I am going to be looking for a paint shop in the area some time next year.

the paint on the rear bumper on the last pic, that corner of the bumper looks really nasty, where the paint seems to be running. but everything else looks good

the pictures were from last week when the car wasn't finished yet. that was only the first coat of paint. they are still wetsanding it over again, then another two coats. after that 3 stage clear coat.

ok the story on the hood scoop, haha. My mom backed into my car with her Pilot. Fawked mah shit up. My hood was buckled and my attain hl cover cracked...i was pissed so i just experimented with my molding skills. it turned out ok, i guess. its just temporary until i save up for something better.

the paint is house of kolor oriental blue urethane base coat with the cobalt blue kandy urethane top coat.

kiddyn: i'm gunna try to make it out to the RSR event. with work n skool getting in the way of my social life, it sux. i'll pm u if i need help getting there.

earl schieb's (Western Ave & Irving Park in Chicago). It's right next to a gas station and dunkin donuts at the corner, you can't miss it. Their work is really good quality, and nice people to work with. Pricing is competative too, they beat or match any estimate you bring in! o yea and check this: $24 extra on ur paint job and they do a 24 month warranty. any dents, scratches, or if ur car gets keyed they fix it for FREE!!! U can also change ur color for free. Black to blue, red to grey, whatever. Free within the 24 months... but if u have custom paint (like mine) warranty doesn't apply. enuff promo on the shop... but definetly stop by and get a quote. highly recom.

sorry about the shitty pix. my camera sux and there was little light at the time (early morning). once the car is completly finished I'll post more pix.

o yea, i had them cut the rear fender 2 inches up for the wide panels. they covered the cut fender (open metal) with this rubber sticky tape shit. looks like a band aid but in black. i know that'll come right off after a couple months. is there anything i can apply that will prevent it from rusting?

im gunna rustproof the undercarriage and possibly the wheel wells. salt machines are coming, will that be enuff?

Shame they took the time to mask things off instead of just removing them. Paintjobs look a lot cleaner when there's no extra masking to be done and I'm certain there will be some overspray somewhere. Otherwise looks good from the pics.

Samad dude wuzzup? i didn't knoe u post on zilvia. this is john, arlo's bro.
for any1 that doesn't kno i'm running wholesale parts from mah crib (since 2000). i have account with hok so the paint came at reduced cost. if any1 wants a good deal, let me know...

Josh, the hood is oem with a vis scoop molded into it. It's the alltrac celica type scoop, but it looks more like an FC's scoop. i dunno, like i sed it's temporary...

they masked everything up pretty well. they did remove the tails though. it's coming out nicely, i have no complaints.

it really depends on the shop... i dunno about earl but maaco is a chain. some shops are good and some are bad. just depends on the people working at the particular shop. it helps if you do all the prep yourself ... the less they have to do, the more likely they won't fuck up.

Sorry about your bad experience, man.

I'm wrapping up the body work on my s13 and one thing I know is that body work takes so much time. Between sanding, priming, filler, more sanding, even more sanding, etc. it takes a long time and it's not easy labor. The spraying is the fun part. I just can't imagine Maaco or comparable shops that charge $500 for prep and paint do enough work to get a good result. Do you really think most of those places color sand?

How much did it cost you to have them screw over your car?
Just wondering if it was a Maaco-ish price range or higher.

Can you PM me about HOK paint? I'm getting sprayed soon too, I'm trying to find a pearlescent black, or a very flakey metallic black.

Yeah, PM me too. Or I'll pm you. How much paint is needed and what other materials from HoK is needed? And is there a way to look at the damn colors without having to buy their program?
