Clogged EGR could cause the car to stall when cold or not turn on. No big deal performance wise though if your ECU's been cleared and not running off the saftey settings anymore.

what's with nissans and EGR valves? the one on my old Z32 got clogged, and my EGR on the S14 is currently messed up.  anyway, i've been runnin with a messed up EGR since last august. not a big deal.  i think carbon builds up in the valve after i travel long distances at constant speed (mn to ks, or il). my remedy is drive the piss out of it for a day or two and it burns/blows the carbon out of there and it runs fine. i usually have to do this every month or two, no biggie.

Electronic Gas Recirculation

it sends exhaust gasses back through the combustion chamber again to somehow reduce emissions. some people remove them and get a power gain (or at least save some weight taking off the plumbing) because as we all know, exhaust gas=hot=bad.  i don't think it makes a big difference though, mostly there for emissions purposes.

Actually, the "E" = "Exhaust".
