double din stereos

anyone here rock one?? The looks of em are starting to grow on me, since it looks nicer and new cars seem to have stereo head units about the same size... Are there any of them that seem to be theft deterent? i.e. removable faceplate??

are you saying that your double DIN player plays CD's as well as minidiscs? b/c i have a couple portable minidisc players and plenty of blanks, and tht would be the shit!

Most double-dins have two functions; usually CD and MD, sometimes CD and cassette, sometimes multiple CDs...
The only problem with them is using the radio, as Japanese radio stations are way off (70s and 80s FM IIRC), so you'll need some sort of frequency converter thingamajig to fix that, but they're fairly easy to find online.

I would love to have a double din. Except the double din market has almost completely dissappeared. Blame the fuckin thieves.

Kenwood makes a double din DVD deck that's a full double din size LCD screen DVD player... Awesome, but sells for $1000.

you guys have any suggestions on where to get a good DIN unit, kenwood preferably. I have sirius satelite on my kenwood excelon right now, but im thinking of throwing myh excelon and my sirius tuner into my 87 cadillac brougham. and then getting a din unit for my 240. itd be cool if i could get kenwood, b/c i can get another sirius unit super cheap, and i have a second subscription free.

i would love to get a DIN with minidisc and CD, that'd be tight
