I have been hitting bumps and shit lately and I thought that there was a prob with my suspension (made a post complaining about that... turns out it is just too soft for my liking... anyways) I have been hitting bumps not hard and it seems like the tire is just buckling and I am bottoming to the wheel sometimes.... I check the tires, they are all at 29, just like the owners manual and everything said... 29 seems low to start... they are the 15 inch wheels... anyone just say screw it and run 35psi.. cause that is what I am about to do to firm it up a little...

I did. Ran 31-33psi for a while and my stcok size tires were showing signs of overinflation so I dropped back to 30-32psi. Felt to mushy so I decided to just screw it and go 34-35 all around. Feels MUCH better. I'll probably wear the tires out quick, but they suck and I'm getting some 225/50/16's this spring, so it will only help to justify the purchase.

My snow tires (arctic alpins) are back on, and had about 32 psi when cold in my garage when I remounted them on my car for the third time this winter. Though when I looked at my back tire last weekend when it was really cold, based on its shape I would guess 28-30psi is more likely right now.
I would say run about 30-32 psi or so. I think with snow tires you just have to live with a squirmy ride. Its like driving on pencil erasers, plus the sidewall is desgined to flex and be soft for cold temperature grip.

Thanks... I know there are few canadians here, but soon I am putting on the tires that came with the car (for now) a set of Pacemarks.... the treadwear rating is 440... should be good for overinflating and burnouts for one summer... then mags and 17s all the way. Thanks guys.

when it comes to tire psi dont go by the book(there not the tires that came with the car at the factory)
check your tires look at the side wall and do just a little below max psi for example i still have my stock rims and the tires on them are 35psi max so i keep it about 33-35(your tire may be different

You guys are all talking cold pressure right? Like a sitting car for about 4 hours?

29psi? 8psi? are you guys insane? why don't you just wrap your wheels in a marshmallow, it probably has the same stiffness.
i, along with most of the people at the track on street tires run right around 40psi in the summer. and right around 35 in the winter. |
