I think I have the factory active amps becuase my poor panel says "active" on it.
Anyways, I got the old rear speakers out and i want to put my plate speakers in there.
For the rear driver side, there is a brown wire and a brown/white wire connecting to the speaker.
For the rear passenger side, there is a blue/white and a blue/yellow wire connecting to the speaker.
Can I just cut the factory "plug" off and hook the speakers up?
How do I know which is positive and which is negative?
Thanks,
Jeff

If I'm not mistake you can connect the speakers either way and they won't be damaged (just don't turn the volume up too much). Once you have them connected you have to see if the speakers pop up or down when the bass hits. If the speaker pops up you're alright, if the speaker pop down then just switch the wires.

Just my 2 cents...

Okay, I got pissed off earlier today and ripped everything out, ast it in a box, and threw it all away. All I have left is my headunit, some wire, my HU harness, and my speakers. I am going to get rid of the rest of the wiring in the carpet and redo it in 2 days.

One way to remember is look at the plug, it's shaped like a 'T'. The top of the T is positive. For the front speakers it's brown and blue/white. Rears are red and blue IIRC.

On S14s with the flat plug, IIRC it's the left side wire when looking at it from the front, clip side up. Either way if you match it up per side you're fine, even if they're reversed, you just don't want one reversed because you'll cancel them out and have zero bass.
