silvia headlight bulbs?
has anyone had any problems with silvia (s13) headlight bulbs being too dim? i got a pair of non projectors, and they seem really dim. i didn't cut or splice, just plugged the harness in, and the only way i can see well at night is with the brights on. Any one else had similar experiences/problems?

yeah, i have the same problem, so i bought new bulbs, and, what do you know... same problem. i'm running both lights right now (h4 + h3c), and they're doing ok, but hid's are seeming like the neccessary next step.

lol u guys care to think about beam patterns?. sit in the passenger seat and park ur car in the streeet on the opposite side with ur hazards on. Things iwll be much brighter. also if u use cheap bulbs or "blue" blubs u will loose actuall brightness. they will look brighter but perform like shit. only thin u can do is get hid kit for ur low beams. dont get anything above 5k or 6k cuz cops will be all over you

are you kidding me? your headlights are goign to light up whats in front of you. plain and simple. sitting in the passender seat b/c its JdM tYyE isnt going to make it any brighter.
try puttng higher watt bulbs in there see if that fixes it.

I had the same problem when I ran nons as well. I had a nice set of raybrig bulbs that are bright as shit in a set of h4 housings, but are dim as hell in the nons, I think it has to do with the bulb sheild in there, I ended up running all 4 lights at once..until cops started blinking me. I have since switched back to the dual projectors and am happier with the output from the little h3c's. try and find a set of factory hids and retro them to the nons..i know some places that sell a nice h4 adapter for a d2s bulb, and don't go over 5k for hids, all the "pretty" color is worthless when you get less usable light from them, and aim them down some...your gonna blind the hell out of alot of people with hids in a rhd light pattern set of headlights that weren't made for hids

i'm aware of the beam patterns, but my lights just plain suck... whether you sit on the left, right, top, or bottom of the car, they still suck. i'm using raybrig whitesonics for both and they're not those ricey blue lights. the inner lights' output is ok, it's just that the outer h4's just plain suck. i don't really like how any of the projectors look, so i guess hid's are, like i said, the expensive next step, but i bet even then the output would be sub-par

it is why i fabricated bi-xenon projector into me silvia headlight, it is cost me too much... that's pretty much it. I personally think the silvia headlights are poorly designed, and light output sucks to no end. I tried HID in my dual projection, still sucks ass. So i took a bixenon projector and chucked it in

if u turn ur headlights on in front of a white wall you will see they they are designed for sitting in the passenger seat driving on the oppisite side of the road. they might still be dim but im having the same problem with my hella h4 housings, they sent me ecode housings instead of us housings so beam pattern sucks.

You mean they sent you RHD instead of LHD.
There is a LHD E-code pattern used all over mainland europe that is superior to the US DOT beam pattern. Anyway, I'm not surprised that non-projector lights' output sucks. Little tiny reflector housings, RHD pattern, ecch. Silvia Q's and K's came with projectors for a reason... |

i wired mine differently, and i have no problem whatsoever with my non-projectors. Mine are set to be
Low Beam: fogs off and headlights on bright high Beam: fogs on and headlights on dim i use to have it wired opposite, but i kept having people flash their lights at me like that. and having it they way i have it now is all good. I have no problems seeing anything. |

there are height adjustments for the dual halogens (i assume that is what we are talking about) - i still have to set mine.
mine are wired so that the outside halogens are on high and inside are on low for regular setting, and opposite for high beam. either way, i only get about a 40ft projected beam. i just need to stop being lazy and aim them correctly. i thought they were dim myself, so i had someone else drive my car down the street a couple of times then back with brights, without brights. seems ok to the onlooker (same as other cars - but whatever) where do you get replacement h3c bulbs? i replaced my h4's (outsides) with hyperwhite, and the insides are still the boring offwhite/yellowish color (at least compared to hyperwhite - which actually looks blue next to it) would like to have same color bulbs....but can't find h3c replacement bulbs anywhere....am i that blind? help me out here!

i have matching raybrig bulbs for the h4's and h3c's, but i advise you guys not to get the h4's... it's just a waste of money. the h3c's are ok, but the h4's seem to give no light at all... boo
