Anyone know a good mechanic/locksmith that can change the door cylinder in my s14?
Preferably around San Jose, CA
So I have a 95 240sx SE with power locks/alarm and replaced the front door. Obviously my current key will not work in that door so I need to have my original key cylinder swapped or the new cylinder to be rekeyed. I was able to remove the key clinder from my original door but I basically wanked everything out and it wasn't done cleanly. I have power locks so the giant white thing is present and makes this really difficult to do without breaking other parts in the process of removal. ![]() My passenger side also hasn't had lock for about 6 years as it seems someone took the rods out of place and that key cylinder is just dangling there. Any suggestions for a shop around San Jose that can do this so I dont have to keep my car unlocked? |

I have an android phone.
I know I have to remove the c-clip on the cylinder in this pic(not the red circle) and pop out the metal rod with the pink holder. I believe the coiled wires is what stops me from doing anything correctly ![]() The way I removed my original one was by doing the above and pivoting the rubber tipped L-bracket thing to the side, and ripping the coiled wire off the cylinder. Obviously that is not the correct way, or at least I hope not. I have googled how to do it but everyone else has the same problem with the white security piece. |
